I have a open wound where they removed a vein in my left leg below the knee. it is about 1/4 in long. It constantly leaks. I change dressing pads at least 3-4 times a day. It has been nine weeks. The doctor says it is slow healing because Iam a diabetic. My blood sugar is under control no problems. I tried wrapping my leg from mid thigh to toe and elevating my leg it is all the same result. It is healing but very very slowly. Any suggestions?

just because your blood sugars are well controlled doesn't mean you don't suffer the other effects of the disease of diabetes. You will be slow to heal, that is all there is to it.

See a diabetic specialist, not your primary care doc.

If your blood sugar is under control mostly due to your meds, and not due to your diet and exercise, that won't stop the slow healing. You need to seriously cut down on the simple sugars.

You might need some medicine for the healing issue...one thing if it is just healing slowly, another if it is infected. Call your endocrinologist.

For some reason, this scenario sounds familiar. Lord, I come to You now, asking that you be with the nephew, the mother, and this entire family. Show them mercy and love. I pray his child survives. All in accordance with Thy Will. In Jesus' Name, thank You, Father. Amen. † Comforting Prayer Warrior †
