I have a pinched nerve because of a ruptured L5 disc. It causes pain in my butt and left leg and I have numbness in my foot and part of my leg (about a week and a half). It been going on since May 20th. The actual incident that caused my low back problem started in March when I slipped. The surgery would be out patient non-evasive. But recover time is 8 to 10 weeks putting me out of work for 2 months!

I do alot of cardio. My main source of cardio comes from cycling. I cycle anywhere from 10-40 miles per day. With all of the cycling my legs, hips, and arms have all toned up and take shape. My problem now is this spare tire that sits around my waist. I currently do 50 crunches a day. I can tell that my ab muscles are starting to strengthen but the fat is not coming off of my belly. As far as diet is concerned I eat probably 60% healthy and 40% junk now. Which is the complete opposite of what I was eating 2 months ago.

My stepfather just got perscribed "HYDROCODONE" for pain and a broad spectrum antibiotic for his very painful kidney infection. the analgesic works but produces what he describes as intense nausea! i was wondering if there was anything available to cure his nausea (he throws up every time he wakes up) or any home remedies?

I have heard a lot about an "autism epidemic" lately; also heard it is nothing but a myth or change in diagnostic trends. I tend to think of autism as a normal variant in the way people are wired, whereas the idea of an "epidemic" would seem to suggest that it is a disease, caused by mass exposure of our population to toxins or something. So, does anyone have an opinion on whether or not there is really an "autism epidemic", as well as some facts to back up your opinion?

Ok, so here's the thing. I am terrified of the dentist. I had to go and get a tooth pulled however, so I decided to do it under general anesthetic. The tooth that was pulled was the last molar on the bottom. Now I know when they put you out to do it, you have a breathing tube inserted. Is it unusual to have some pain in the teeth above the one you had removed? I was wondering if this pain is from the air tube. I have no pain at all in the site of the extraction, so I am sure it's not dry socket. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been living with athlete's foot for years and it has never spread to any other areas of my body or to anyone else, but I'm worried that it will one day. How do I prevent the spread of athlete's foot? And if my feet does not show any signs of infection, does that mean that the fungus can't spread? Sometimes my athlete's foot goes away, or is not noticeable such as when winter comes.

I eat well - lots of water, vegies, boneless skinless chicken, two servings of fruit a day, very little bread, no desserts. My cardio is 4 times a week - 45 minutes on the treadmill - and strength training upper and lower body on alternate days. I quit smoking in January and first put on about 6 pounds quickly and then all of sudden put on 2 to 3 pounds per week for three weeks in a row. I had my thyriod checked and it is normal. I tried going off Prempro - the hrt rx - for three weeks and no change in my weight. Because of the return of hot flashes, irritability, and trouble sleeping I went back on it. I am 5'4 inches and weigh 166. Help!!!!!

I went to the dentist to have a cavity filled and the dentsit filling-in...(not my normal dentist) tells me that another cavity I have needs to have crown. I am confused by this because it doesn't appear to be a big cavity and my dentist said i just needed a filling. Its the first molar and neither that tooth nor the one next to it have any fillings or decay. So why would I need a crown? and should I refuse to do it? stand by just a filling?
