Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

The American College of Sports Medicine offers guidelines for cardiovascular, flexibility and resistance training. The guidelines are flexible enough to allow you to pick your own exercises but have enough structure to get you going when you first start out. They are pretty easy to follow and will make your workout easier and more efficient.

You can lose wieight without exercising if you change your eating habits. Some tips:
1. Read the nutrition information on everything. Know what they mean. Avoid things that have saturated fat in them.
2. Cut off unhealthy snacks. Trade ice cream for yogurt, chips for granola bars, soda for water or juice, eat fresh fruit and vegetables.
3. Don't eat so much restaurant food. A typical entree can have 1000-2000 calories. If you must eat out, halve it, bag it. Order something that's baked rather than something that's fried or sauteed.
4. Keep a food journal. Record what you eat everyday, and how much calories it has. Then you can look it over and make healthy changes!
5. Basic rule of thumb when grocery shopping: shop around the perimeter of the store, where you'll find all the fresh produce.
I've got lots more because I used to take health classes. Let me know if you want more info.
On exercising, it's a good idea to keep them spontaneous. You can work on weight lifting one day, then cardio the next day, then take a nice walk the next day, then go for a swim, etc. so your body won't get used to it and adapt, which means your work out sessions will be more effective.

The trick is to make it a habit ... not an exercise.
Get off the bus or park 2 blocks further from work and you have done your 15 minute walk for the day.
For diet, try FIT from Agel.
Instead of taking it in pill form, it is in a gel similar to a Sports drink. I hate pills. The gel is easier to carry, swallow and goes into your system easier/faster than pills.
It includes Super CitriMax to take away cravings for food while keeping energy up.
Take it 30 mins before eating.

AVOID food that contains hydrogenated oils (fried fast foods), high-fructose corn syrup (most sodas, etc), and enriched flour . America is the only country that has these ingredients which are literally fattening the people. All other countries have banned these products from their food. I personally eat organic food, which is just food without these ingredients and organic food is grown/processed without chemicals and artificial ingredients. If you want more info, all u have to do is type in hydrogenated oil or high fructose corn syrup in google and loads of information will come up.
For the exercise part, i suggest yoga and some type of cardiovascular workout that gets your heart pumping at least twice a week.

find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
