How did you give up leather?
I decided to become vegan, but several things I have are leather... such as my car seats, my rainbow sandals, many of my shoes...

Would I not be a bad vegan if I kept these, but did not buy anything leather from now on? How did you deal with these things wen becoming vegan?

I found some articles today that bothered me; they stated that olive oil and other such like vegetable oils are actually unhealthy and lead to higher risks of cancer, all the while touting animal fats as good sources of fat (and avocados, which I can't disagree with; avocados are healthy). To me, it smacks of Atkins, but I don't know. What are your opinions on this?

This may be a more appropriate place to ask this question.

I'm looking for very good fruit juice drinks, who’d like to submit their favorite home recipe. Only Home Made drinks.

I have berries, strawberries, apples, bananas, carrots, grapes, and lemons. It's the time of year where I slow down a great deal because it gets dark early. I usually make fruit drinks to aid the digestive process, build the immune system and to give me energy. I'd like to try different home made fruit drinks this year. Who has to best all natural fruit drink recipe. I use all organic fruits. If you have detail, please leave a comment on my blog at http://connectingus-net.blogspot.com

Hey, I would like to become a full veggie but that is soooo out of the picture (parents). How many of you eat all of these things? Do you still call yourself a vegetarian? Why do you eat these things and not anything else?? Thanks.

Even before I was born I hated them. When my mother was pregnant with me she would get sick everytime she ate vegies. I want to become a vegetarian and hav e actully tyid before but I can not eat the vegatables. I gag all the time. Also i love the taste of meat, Like chicken and stuff I can't really eat beef anymore becuase it looks kinda gross to me but I love chicken. I don't know how I wil be able to transstoin from eating meat wich I have always loved to vegetables wich I always hated. Can you give me some ideas.

Now you can't say I'm being a "preachy vegan" or "morally superior", since i'm only talking to veg*ns.

Has anyone else noticed that, when a question is asked on this forum and receives a good mix of answers from omnis and veg*ns, that the veg*n answers are usually a bit longer, more thoughtful, contain better vocabulary words, make better use of the rules of grammar, and contain less insults and incendiary comments?

I've often noticed after two or three long, well thought out veg*ns answers, there is usually an onmi answer consisting of "EAT MEET ITS GOOD", or something similar.

Why do you think this is?

To wipe out meat across the world? Or to just stop the cruel ways they kill animals (which I can understand)?

Because if you're trying to wipe out all meat... it's not going to happen. They need beef cows and fish and poultry for the pet food industry. And they also use it in zoos to feed large carnivores.

Don't get me wrong, I'm totally against factory farms for meat and dairy. Which is why I pay more to eat an organic diet.

Don't tell me I'm an animal hater please, I love them. I was a vegetarian for about three months, and I consulted a nutritionist and ate all the things I was supposed to be eating to get my vitamins. But the scale kept on tipping down... I went to my doctor. He told me that with my blood type ('O') that it would be healthier for me to eat meat. Many people with 'O' type blood need to eat meat to stay healthy, he said.

I tell people I'm a vegetarian, and they immediatly assume I'm judging them. I understand, because when I ate meat, I'd met some condemnation from some of the more "hardcore" vegetarians I'd associated with.

What are some good ways of telling people you are a vegetarian, without implying that you judge them for not being one? I know it's not fair that people assume it, but we must be real about the fact that there is this perception out there that we somehow think of ourselves as morally superior; which is unfortunately true in some (rare I hope) cases, but I certainly do not.

What are some good ways of talking to non-veg's without bringing stereotypes into it?

I eat only beef, not any other meat (Pork, chicken, turkey, fish etc)? If a person can beconsidered a vegetarian for eating all meat except for beef, does it make me a vegetarian to eat no meat other than beef? If not, is there a name for this?

Am I the only person in the world who eats like this?? =P
