I have been a vegetarian since I was 3 years old, it has been 17 years, I am now 20. I have tried to eat meat throughout my life but I can never do it. My family eats meat, and it doesn't bother me whatsoever. When people ask me why I'm a vegetarian I don't have an answer for them, I think its psychological but I really don't have an explaination. I'm not a vegan, I do drink milk, eat cheese, eggs, etc. And I do get plenty of protein and iron from other foods and supplements.

My husband eats meat, and is a huge health/nutrition guy. He wants me to make myself start eating meat now so eventually when I'm pregnant it won't be a shock for me to eat meat... Meaning he wants me to eat meat when I'm pregnant for the baby's and my sake.

I don't know how I feel about it. I can't say no, it'll be his baby, too. I do want to eat meat when I'm pregnant, if thats the healthiest thing for the baby, but I don't know if I'll be able to do it.

Is this wrong of me? What should I do?

some vegetarian lunch ideas?

2007-11-15 09:24:08 · 10 answers · asked by Anonymous

aside from eating raw meats, not really high on the list for me, what are some good ways to get protein whilst eating only raw foods. I've been sticking with mostly raw shelled nuts but I know theres better things out there.

I'm assuming beans or something of that sense are a source, but how do you prepare them without cooking them? I've read something about soaking, but wouldn't the water take some of the good stuff out? I suppose drinking it would be bad =P

any input would be great, as im really enjoying this lifestyle choice.

My bff's boyfriend is going to buy her a faux fur coat for Christmas. I told him those things are still immoral because people may still think they are real and try and buy one. It glamorizes the biz, I said. He said she will love it. My bff is like me a very moral and vegan person. I am afraid this coat will make her immoral. What should I do to convince him that this coat is the work of the devil?

People have mentioned to me that the only vegetarians they know are sick all the time. Lately, I feel like I have been eating a lot of the same stuff over and over - (ex- pizza, fries, grilled cheese, etc). What are some better dishes? Please list actual things you've made and not just recipes from a veg site. Any personal feedback will help. Thanks

I've been vegetarian for 5 years, and I've been a member of peta for a while. I was just wondering if anyone else supports them?
I don't really support them, I don't like that they cause tension between vegetarians and vegans. i dont like that they use shock tactics to "convert" vegetarians. i just dont like the way they do stuff, plus i've heard lots of bad things about them, which i dont know are true, but still. i just dont support their message. i do like it when people become veg, but on their own. not because people showed them footage of factory farms. its a personal thing and shock tactics get quick, but short lived results.
anyone agree? disagree?

My boyfriend and I want to host a small "wine and cheese" style game evening with some friends mainly as a pre-Christmas get-together in early December. I'm trying to figure out a menu now because I'm away for a while and then we're moving at the end of this month, so I won't have time to think about it much and find recipes.

I don't want to do a dinner - just finger foods, dips and appetizer type foods. Also, we don't eat meat so they have to be vegetarian (but not necessarily vegan).

I've thought of an artichoke dip, spinach phylo roll-ups, and of course various cheeses with crackers. (To drink we'll have wine and a non-alcoholic punch or egg-nog, since not everyone drinks alcohol.)

Any suggestions for fancier finger foods would really be appreciated. I've never done this before so I have no idea where to start!

Thank you!

I have recently been looking into going on such a diet, but I was unsure of the differences between both. This is for health purposes so I am not going to be rigid strict with it, as in, I know I'll still have yogurt. I'm just looking to completely remodel the way I eat, I already keep in very good physical shape by running track as a full time sport, but I finally realized that I am never going to get the lean body I want if I don't do something about my eating habits. I was just looking for tips on how to transition into this diet. Mostly I want to know what I would eat for my main meals, I don't exactly want to be eating pasta for every meal. I also want to make sure I get all the nutrients I need to be healthy. Any tips would be much appreciated!
