I don't hate vegetarians. And I wanted to become a vegartaian became I feel it would be a more healthier cleaner life style. I have a feeling that the farms taht kill our food don't treat the animals right. I do understand we are predators and though were not exactly like carniourse we still have meat tearing teeth along with vegie eating teeth. Omnivors. Anyway lately i can't eat meat like staek or hamburger becuase somitns i see chunks of fat n the hamburgers or there will be tons of fat on the stake. And plus when I eat I keep on hearing. This was an animal once and while your still a predator this animal didn't live it's life fulley. I wonder what kind of stuff they put in here. And I can't eat it. Sometimes it makes me sicks to my stomack and I have to lay down for a while. So I guess I have a gulty conseince.

I do eat my vegies i just have to wash them down with something. like for peas i'll put a spoon full in my mouth and then drink a swig of pop or milk (but when I become a vegetaien it will be crandberrie juice or somthing)and then swallow them like pills. for the other veggies i chew twice and then swallow.

Why in Hell would you want to be vegetarian then?

I work in mental health and I have heard people with eating disorders who talk like that. I don't mean to insult you, I'm simply stating a fact.

Maybe you'd better see a doctor.

You're right, it's not fair to the animals to just be breed to be killed. I think you have not discovered all of the vegetables out there. I also think you need to experiment with spices. If you really do become a successful vegetarian, in time, you will learn how to cook very well and make vegetables taste to your liking. You'll learn how certain grains and specific beans pair up with the fruits or vegetables to give the meal a unique flavor. Some beans don't go the best with certain rices or vegetables just like some meats don't go with some vegetables and starches. As a newbie vegetarian, it might be easier for you to start out with the fake meats and vegetable lasagnas. Don't lean too much on dairy as your protein source or you may gain a little weight.

Don't let people discourage you! It's going to be tough, yes, but you can definitely do it! I've been a vegetarian now for 6 or 7 years. The only reason I started is because of my love for animals and the terrible things they have to suffer through so we can have a tasty meal, and yes, I think meat is DELICIOUS! I didn't HATE veggies, but I wasn't a huge fan of them... I LOVED chicken (ate it with almost every meal) but I was more of a carb and cheese addict and used them as a meat replacement for every meal... Now that's just not good for you, you can pack on pounds quickly that way, so while it's a good way to START your transition into becoming a vegetarian, you are going to have to add veggies or tofu in at some point!

Let me ask you something, do you gag at the thought of lettuce and tomato on top of a juicy burger? If not, then it'll be a lot easier than you think... If so, then it really might be a mental block you have to force yourself to get through! There are so many ways veggies can be prepared where they don't really taste like veggies by the time your done making a dish. There are going to be people saying I'm crazy after I post this, but take my word for it... my meat-lovin', veggie-hatin' boyfriend and I have been together for 4 and a half years, the entire time I haven't eaten a single piece of meat (or a meat derivative for that matter) yet I make us dinner about 4 times a week and only OCCASIONALLY throw in some meat for him to keep him happy... the truth is, he's loved almost every meal I've put in front of him! (And trust me, he'll tell me when he doesn't!) It's all about finding the right recipe and playing around with your own cooking skills!

You're probably NOT going to want to go Vegan right away... Try starting out as a Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian (one that eats no meat, but diary and eggs) or maybe even a pescatarian (eats fish, dairy and eggs, but no other meat). It will be much easier if you ease yourself into it... I was a pescatarian for 2 days-count it, 2! The guilt took over the first time I ate seafood and I went Lacto-Ovo... 6 years later, I'm starting to become overwhelmed with guilt for not being Vegan, and I'm seriously considering taking the plunge but I'm still hesitant because I know it will be an even harder transition!

I guess what I'm trying to say is it won't be easy, but if you WANT to do it... you can! If you'd like to talk to me a little more about it, get some recipes, etc... i'm always up for helping someone out with it... feel free to email me at bhansen414@yahoo.com, I check that most often...

GOOD LUCK!

First of all, you need to ask yourself WHY you want to become a vegetarian? Is it for health reasons? If you hate vegetables, then your diet is most likely unhealthy as it is, so becoming vegetarian can only improve your health. I would recommend sampling as many veggies as you can and finding ones you like. As far as the protein issue goes, many companies make meat substitutes which are delicious and contain ample protein. Rice and beans is another good way to get all of the amino acids you need (proteins are chains of amino acids). However, if you want to become a vegetarian because eating meat is extremely cruel to animals, then you will do it because it is the right thing to do. It was difficult for me at first, but when I realized how much more ethical it is to not eat meat it was easy to find alternatives. I didn't want to continue my lifestyle knowing that I was helping cause the death of those organisms that have just as much a right to life as I do. Good luck.

I am very much like you! I eat the few things that I like and keep trying new things. You don't have to eat nothing but veggies either, I have heard a lot of veg. people say that they ate a lot of peanut butter and jelly when they were first starting out. That is what I do, also beans and rice, pasta, Morning Star Farms or Bocca Chik-n patties (they taste like chicken!), eggs, cereals, salads, and the few vegetables I do like. And I am adding more and more things to my diet as I go along.
Go to veggieboards.com, there is a lot of good info in there and lots of very friendly people to help! Happy day!

Maybe your mother/father does not know how to cook very well. Just like my family. They just cook the cr*p out of everything. Veggies all soggy and flavourless.

Seems to me the chinese way is best; they know their veggies. Learn from a good chinese cook. They also know their fake meats -- lots of asian fake meats. Mushrooms are really meaty tasting too.

If u like the taste of meat, then eat it! Dont go through it unless u have a sincere desire not to eat these loving animals!

Amen to that! I'm so not a fan of vegetables. I eat pretty much what non-vegetarians eat, I just leave out the meat. :)

When I was a kid I couldn't stand tomatoes and watermelon. I didn't like the texture and taste. Now I could eat them both. Maybe the same could happen for you.
