I just moved in to my first house ever and I'll be passing out candy for Halloween for the first time in year and years. So, I'm wondering, what is some vegan candy that I can pass out to the kids? I would prefer a name-brand candy so that the kids are more likely to appreciate it.

I've been a born-again vegetarian for several months, and have considered veganism for quite some time. I want to do as little harm as possible, but it's difficult that my parents are typical omnivores. Our family gathers at our grandma's every Saturday for dinner, it's kind enough that she makes us vegetarian dishes on the side, I don't want her to think she has to make an extra dessert too so that it doesn't include milk or eggs. Or, most restaurants don't have vegan options. I want to support animals but I don't want to frequently inconvenience my loved ones as well. And I don't really have the means to get substitutes. Even though I'm 15 and can't drive yet, my brother is also a vegetarian so he could probably bring me to the supermarket. Yet still, I don't have a job and am also not really old enough for one yet (and I'm not very comfortable with babysitting so that's probably out of the question...) Any suggestions? Or should I just wait 'til I'm living on my own? Thanks.

...What's wrong with you? Like Polo-Vegetarians, you love all of god's creatures, except for the chicken? Or does it just taste too good? It doesn't make sense!

I've recently made the decision to become vegan (after a friend showed me a particually gruesome PETA show), and after some research I brought it to my mum. I'm sixteen, so she said it was ultimately my decision, but she would me to get some advice on getting the right nutrients.

Is there any vegans out there with do's and don't, tips or even good websites and books to read?

Being the vegan friendly guy you all know me as, I just wanted to mention that there's gelatin in mine so you might want to check your's out.

Some of you probably knew. Some didn't but will claim to have known it. I only mention it because I haven't seen it discussed here personally. Bye now.

Last night I had a very vivid dream. I went to the kitchen to get something to eat, and someone had replaced all of my food with non-vegan food. In particular, there were several different kinds of vanilla wafers. I thought "cool, I'll have some nilla wafers!" and I got to reading the labels. They all had milk and/or egg products. The most absurd had "teardrop milk" (which was described on the box as "drops of milk that fell from other bags of milk". Such a small amount of milk, but I couldn't eat them because they weren't vegan. ><

When I woke up I was craving some fcking vanilla wafers, knowing I can't eat them!

Have any of you had nightmares like these?

After all, it's already cooked (like instant rice)

If I mix salt, seasonings, olive oil, water and couscous in a bowl and leave it in the refrigerator, will it ever soak through enough to be exactly identical to properly cooked product (that's cooled down)?

If so, how long should I soak it for and how much water to couscous?

Why is it ok to eat look-a-like meats made from soy, etc such as "garden burgers, veggie chicken, hotdogs, etc" Shouldnt a true vegan want to avoid foods that look, taste, and smell like real meats?

I am a brand new vegitarian, and i've been going with it for about 4-5 days so far and i think i am going to continue to do it. My only problam is so far i'm having difficulty knowing what to do. Other than the obvious meat, i know there are other things that i'm not sopposed to eat and things that i should eat.(at the same time i am on a diet trying to be healthier, but recently i have taken in my environment around me and made decisions that it is the right thing to do. the point is, does anyone have any advice to give me about things i may have missed, or small things that people dont know about that slips through the cracks?

I was looking at the ingredient list and I don't see anything that sounds like animal products. (French's brand , if anyone cares) The same goes for "beef" bouillon cubes. Are they just all herbs and spices? Can I still use the packet in boiling veggies?

I am devastated. I took so much time to teach my cast to be vegan. What should I do? I think all animals have the capabilities to become vegan. I am adopting as many as possible to start my dream, but this cat is a set back.

I'm reading Animal Farm by George Orwell and I realized, If you have a pet, you save it from the pound and cruelty. But if you don't, it doesn't get underfed and it has a full life to its whim. Which one is better for the animal?
