when i think balanced diet, i think of it having the right amounts of protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, minerals. all of these can be obtained from a vegan diet (except perhaps B12) and most definitely from a lacto-vegetarian diet. so why do some people insist meat is part of balanced nutrition? it's not.

I have never given my pet bunny cheese, but I was just wondering if they can eat it because when ever I am eating cheese around my bunny she seems to want to take a nibble. I was wondering if that is bad for them? Also, I read that some bunnies like apple slices? Is this safe for all bunnies to eat? My bun is a dwarf rabbit.

thanks!

I was just curious because my friend just became a vegetarian for two weeks, and she used to be a hardcore meat-eater. All of a sudden, she had to go to the hospital because she has some sort of virus? Could this be caused from her drastic change in eating meat?

If you are a vegetarian because you don't like how animals are killed for the sole purpose of being eaten, or because you don't like their living conditions...

What if we just let animals live in their natural environment, and only ate them after they had died naturally, would you eat them then? Or would you still not eat meat? Please explain.

I don't mean to be condescending, but...

Why is it that some vegetarians (pollo/pescetarians) feel that it is OK tho eat chicken or fish but not other meats? How is killing a chicken or fish different than a cow or a pig?

There are many recipes that I enjoy that call for ground meat. While I sometimes use Morning Star crumbles, I am looking for more of a moldable ground meat substitute, so I can make things like meatballs. I have used Lightlife's Gimme Lean but my local supermarket no longer carries it.

Also, if anyone knows of any vegetarian/vegan supermarkets in the NYC/NJ area or online where I could buy such a substitute feel free to tell me.

So please help. Thank you.

Is anyone offended, hurt, disappointed? If so, why?

Do they really matter? Why?

I for one could give a rip less, but I am curious about how others feel. Seems like a wasted feature to me.

If everyone in the world became a non meat eater, and people stopped killing animals. Where would all these animals go? Could u imagine? the growing rate which they would breed. would they run wild? Would there be a cow zoo? who would fund it? please answer this thoughtfully. if we stopped killing animals, what would happen to them?

Dear Anyone,
I am 13 years old and I have come to a point in my life that I ask myself everytime I eat meat.......why? Why do I eat a pieceful animal, this animal did not hurt anyone it was living peacefully among it's own kind. It did not deserve to die in such a ugly way. It should have stayed on this earth as long as nature would have intended. So I ask what should I do, should I stay with this disgusting habit or should I become a vegetarian?
Love,
jmdelpit

OK, I'm not here to judge and I'm not here to start a riot. You all have your own reasons for not eating meat, and I respect that. I just have a question.

Last night, I was talking to a vegetarian and she refused to admit that the meat of cows was incredibly tasty. So I'm wondering, can any of you, even though you don't eat them for ecological, health, or political reasons, admit that cows are very tasty animals? And if they weren't, do you think the world would have more vegetarians?

I've got a couple of friends who are vegetarian on the grounds of environmentalism, they cite the research about cows, the rainforest and global warming, (too long to type out here but I'm sure you've heard of it). I always point out, why not just not eat cow? Chickens don't produce nearly as much greenhouse gasses do they?

are there other environmental factors come into play that I'm missing?

I mean, with that idiot girl on here today who insisted fish was not meat, and the various meat-eaters (not all, but many) insisting that it's ok to eat meat without giving a logical reason why, do you think the world's IQ is dropping?
The only logical reason to eat meat (cruel as it may seem) is if you like its taste.

See, I've worked out a very simple formula that EVEN you can work out! Ask yourself these three questions.

1. Is it a plant?
2. Is it a fungus?
3. Is it a microbe?

If you answered yes to any of the above, it is vegetarian! If not, it is not vegetarian! Simple!

Any questions?

this person i know whose also a vegetarian gets really mad at me whenever i eat yogurt, marshmellows, things like that which contain gelatin because apparently its made from worn down animal parts.

i keep trying to tell him there are different levels of vegetarianism and i dont eat any meat or poultry, but considering fruity yogurt isn't a slice of dead animal i thought it was okay.

what is your opinion..should i cut out all gelatin foods?
(even kosher gelatin)

and tons tons tonssss of foods contain gelatin, i dont know how you can't NOT eat it.

I been a vegetarian for a while but my parents are barely starting to react negative.
They started to put meat pamphlets on my bed and they wave meat in my face.
Do any of you have any horror stories?
How do I make them stop…any snappy comments?

First, it IS true that plants release chemicals when physically damaged. To compare this to pain is a sign of idiocy.

The definition of pain (medterms. com)
" An unpleasant sensation that can range from mild, localized discomfort to agony."

"Unpleasant" and "sensation" are words that denote the presence of an organ (brain) that can decipher and process sensory messages. Plants don't have such an organ. Their sensory messages are purely chemical. Their responses are purely chemical. A plant does not have a nervous system.
