Since you don't seem to need an anti-perspirant why not just try baking soda! For starters you've most likely got some around the house anyway. If not, a tiny box from the grocer is usually under 50 cents and is enough for months and months. You just dust a little under your arms to use it (duh) and it makes your underarms too alkaline for smelly bacteria to grow (it's not sweat that stinks, it's the bugs that eat it).

I've never had baking soda damage clothing like 'real' deodorants and anti-perspirants do either.

If you stuff a whole vanilla bean into the box the powder picks up that scent and transfers it to you. A drop or two of essential oil mixed into the powder works just as well. As a bonus that same scented baking soda can be used as a flavored toothpaste!

Vanilla is quite commonly used to mask odors also! Any vanilla extract that uses an alcohol base works as a deodorant. The alcohol kills the smelly bacteria and obviously leaves you with a hint of vanilla aroma. Dilute the vanilla extract and you've got mouthwash (another bonus tip).

The rock salt crystals that so many folks are recommending do work, but a cheaper way to do the same thing is to put some regular table salt on a damp washcloth (salt also kills the smelly bacteria). If you don't like the 'scratchiness' of table salt you can use a water softener pellet since those are just a big lump of salt!

No matter which route you go, just keep in mind that it takes a few days for these methods to really kick in.

I've tried a few and the best thus far is "Kiss My Face" Liquid Rock in Lavender scent. It's basically the salt crystal liquefied in a roll on. And the lavender oil in it is a natural anti-bacterial. It doesn't get rid of the sweating as it is only a deodorant, but it does take care of smells.

The Thai crystal works for me on all but the hottest days. A few online retailers carry it, as does my local Whole Foods.

Don't be a dirty hippie. Go purchase some right guard.

If you think you smell better without deodorant it's all in your head, ask the people that have to smell you.
