I haven't, but I know what you mean. It's frustrating.
I was watching TV the other night. It was an old rerun of Seinfeld. In the story, Elaine was giving a hard time to another worman at a party because she was wearing fur. The woman said "are you a vegetarian?" Elaine said, "Yes, I eat no meat, just fish."
I changed the channel. It was Conan O'Brien. Ted Danson was on. Amazingly, Danson said "I'm vegan, but I do eat fish."
What the Hell is going on?
I don't even like to say I'm vegetarian anymore; I'd rather just say "I don't eat animals" because the word "vegetarian" is losing it's meaning.
Sorry everyone if I keep harping on this, but my wife is a Dietitian with a degree in Nutrition. She works at a hospital giving diet counseling to mentally ill people. She was raised vegetarian. THERE IS NO TRUTH IN THE IDEA THAT A VEGETARIAN DIET CANNOT BE HEALTHY. A lot of people come on this forum with no qualifications, just an opinion. Let them to try get a job with a hospital doing diet counseling.
I still have a lot of faith in the human race (but sometimes I wonder why).

I agree. Society has become void of dicipline, humanity, and independance. People believe what they want without taking initiative to do the research themselves. They won't admit there errors so they live life in denial because they feel their pride would be hurt if they were wrong, watching MTV has become more important than their health and their environment, they look for the easy way to loose weight even if it's unhealthy instead of eating a balanced diet and getting exercise. Society is slowly hitting a downfall and I partially blame parents for letting their kids become what they are and then I blame the kids for not using their free will to realize problems and try to find a way to fix them. The big problem is that even if the teachers, doctors, and politicians support a change for the better parents won't and they will continue to lead their kids down a path of distruction rather than progress. I think the majority of people don't care about prevention but rather wait for someone to come up with an alternative solution later on. For example global warming. There are a million things people can do to reduce or prevent the effects of global warming but they choose not to due to inconvenience and they expect someone to come up with a miracle cure to stop it. Like Voltaire said, "Optimism leads to fatalism." I completely agree. If we ignore what's around us we will never fight for change and therefore we will die within our own broken society.

That would be the reason. People love the taste and texture of meat. ( I don't think it makes you an idiot though.) My daughter is a vegetarian, but she doesn't push her opinions on other people. She does realize it's her body and she's made her choice. Not everyone has to be just like her and she knows this.

Actually, I'm pretty optimistic about the human race. But for my reality check lest I forget the biblical injunctiure "The idiots will always be with you"--I come to V&V forum.
It maintains my optimism that with such astounding statemetns as"The only logical reason to eat meat (cruel as it may seem) is if you like its taste". Does that mean fanatical veggie-heads would eat meat if it tasted like crap? OR Is that why all you airheads are looking for substitutes that duplicate the taste of "meat"
I mean that seems cruel doesn't it? Replicating the taste of meat keeps alive the notion that meat tastes good.
If you want to help defenceless animals, convince people they taste like crap. Don't go trying to make veggie processed crap taste like "meat".
EDIT: It is interesting to observe "veggie head logic" in action. Somehow the question and some answers predicate that the decline of the human race is somehow connected with eating meat, or how meat is defined. ROFLMAO ....
