when i think balanced diet, i think of it having the right amounts of protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, minerals. all of these can be obtained from a vegan diet (except perhaps B12) and most definitely from a lacto-vegetarian diet. so why do some people insist meat is part of balanced nutrition? it's not.

It is part of a balanced diet. It's just not absolutely necessary that you eat meat. Like you said, you can get nutrients from non-animal sources. Most people just choose to get their protein from meat because it tastes good and it's what they are used to.

Like you said when "you" think of a balanced diet, "you" think of the proper amounts of proteins, carbs, fats, vits and minerals. Yes you can get it them from a Vegan diet but for most people that have been raised on some kind of meat, becoming a vegan is not a easy thing to do. Meat is and can be a part of a balanced diet. No one has ever said that you have to eat meat or you will die. You are incorrect saying that meat is "not" part of a balanced diet, you choose not to eat meat in order to not kill animals, and that is your every right. Please do not state untrue facts about things you many not fully understand because you choose not to understand the facts. Speak with a nutritionist and they will say that meat "can" be a "part" of a balanced diet if you "choose" to eat meat.
Besides 95% of people do not eat a balanced diet in the first place.

Lots of thumbs-downing in here. I say this as a vegan, but meat actually can be part of a healthy diet. You would need to eat about 1/5 of what the typical American eats, though, and you will be taking on some bad stuff no matter how lean the meat is. (Hormones, antibiotics, parasites, etc.)
A diet that includes meat will never be as healthy as a veg diet.

Because the animal exploitation industries have convinced people that they need meat, dairy, and eggs as part of a balanced diet. Their advertising is very insidious. They can spend more on advertising in a week than pro-vegetarian organizations can in a year!

I agree. You need protein, not meat. You need calcium, not milk! I think ppl think it's part of the balanced diet is b/c meat is the easiest way to get protein, milk is the easiest way to get calcium. If you find other ways to get need nutrients than don't worry what others consider balanced, if you get what you need from your diet, than it is balanced. Way to think outside the box!

It may or may not be PART of a balanced diet. And IMO to exclude such a critical nutrient as B12, a diet is not balanced. A balanced diet does not require supplements, IMO.

I feed my canines wellbeing and wellbeing center type. top now i'm feeding them wellbeing Super5mix rooster. i'm discovering the uncooked foodstuff recurring and need to quickly start up feeding them the uncooked foodstuff recurring. Why do I feed wellbeing? It has *no* corn, *no* soy, *no* wheat, *no* meat by way of-products, *no* synthetic colorings, *no* synthetic flavors, *no* synthetic preservatives, and interior the wellbeing center *no* Grains! it continually has a minimum of the 1st 2 aspects has MEAT no longer *corn* like Purina. And interior the middle it has the 1st 4 aspects has meat. So it has a severe meat content textile and overall severe high quality aspects. it is first-type foodstuff (unlike Purina.) I truly have seen a important progression in there wellbeing from switching from a low high quality foodstuff, to wellbeing. All of my canines have executed ok on it. Have a large, eye-catching coat, no hypersensitive reactions, sturdy weight, love the foodstuff, now no longer eat their poop, have a lot extra potential, and overall wellbeing and tool, very healthful in this foodstuff. So i visit proceed to feed it. And with a bit of luck feed uncooked foodstuff recurring interior the destiny! My cousins feed there canines Purina and that they are very risky. One is severly underweight, using fact she refuses to eat the foodstuff, in simple terms eats sufficient to proceed to exist. And there coats are poor! they have important hypersensitive reactions, and function very low potential, for a severe potential breed. And overall risky, they are continually on the Vets! i visit never feed Purina or advise it to everyone. somebody else has already listed the aspects, corn makes up most of the foodstuff, and "animal" by way of product. Yuck! canines are carnivores and % actual meat no longer corn like Purina!

Ignorance. Meat is not a food group, protein is. You don't need meat, you need protein. As long as you're getting enough, you're eating a balanced diet. Trolls like to preach meats amazing nutriental values, like artery clogging cholestrol!

Why do people talk of vegetables as a balanced diet? Meat, whether it be red meat, chicken, pork or lamb (and fish)definitely has a place on the dinner table. We don't advocate meat or denigrate vegans and criticize their habits, you should accord us the same consideration. So you eat what you choose to eat and let us do the same without the preaching. Thank you.
PS Since you brought it up, all the vegans and those who subsist on a vegetable ("natural") diet look unhealthy...they are pale and have dark brown circles under their eyes...) Not exactly an advertisement for the "vegan" way of life.
