Some people eat fish because they think it's healthier than other forms of flesh foods. Sadly, many forms of seafood have mercury due to environmental contamination, and they still have cholesterol (althugh not as much as beef or chicken) and zero fiber, as do all animal foods.

Some people take the Catholic Church view that fish are not meat, due to their "it's okay to eat fish on Fridays" rule. Jewish dietary laws (kashrut) don't consider fish as meat (don't ask me why). It's the only flesh food that can be served with milk (shellfish, BTW, is forbidden to Jews). Some people don't realize fish do have feelings, and are unaware of research showing they do form societies of sorts.

That's the best I can come up with.

Fish(the part that you eat) IS the MEAT of fish.

The part that you eat on an apple, is the meat of an apple.

Vegetarians do not eat animals(fish, cows, ants, shrimp).

If someone doesn't eat cows or pigs because it is cruel but the eat fish, they are lying to themselves so that they can keep doing it.

"pecetarian" is a made up word and is not a type of vegetarian.

Fish is flesh from an animal...there is no difference between that flesh and the flesh from a chicken or other animal. Think about it...they both bleed they were both a living breathing animal and they were both alive...and someone had to kill them to eat them.

A person that eats fish or any other flesh from an animal no matter what kind is not a vegetarian.

I eat fish because it is healthier and although I like red meat once in awhile, I don't want to eat too much of it for health reasons.

I girl I work with only eats shellfish and seafood, but no poultry, pork, or beef. It's because she was brought up Seventh-Day Adventist, and to them, anything with fur or hooves isn't for eating. She tells people she's vegetarian; probably not because she's an idiot, but because it's easier than explaining it all.

I know one woman who won't eat any meat except chicken, her family just wasn't big on red meat and stuff. She calls herself vegetarian as well, it saves her time.

Neither one is really a vegetarian, but it gets their points across. It all depends on the person.

I think it's often a case of what you consider cruel. Fish are usually, (though not always), simply caught and killed. They aren't confined all their lives in pens where they can hardly move and living lives of torment like animals raised on factory farms. I'm vegetarian and I don't eat fish. However, if I had to, I'd eat fish, (not shellfish that are often boiled alive), before I'd eat any other kind of meat because although they suffer, they're not subjected to the same torture that most other animals used for food are.

Yes, fish is, in my mind, meat. People who eat fish but no other meat are called pesco-vegetarians, and my mom is one of them. She believes that fish can not feel as much pain as other animals, and therefore are worth eating since they have immense health benefits. I completely disagree since they are still capable of feeling pain and should not be disregarded no matter how much of a health benefit they grant you (unless it's a case of life and death), but I get nowhere when trying to convey this to my mom.

fish is meat. i'm a vegetarian, and i don't eat meat. many "vegetarians" do eat fish, and i wouldn't consider them ones. but there are many terms used to describe vegetarians.
such as octo-ovo, vegan, etc.

pesitarian (spelling is probably off but but i'm to lazy to google check it, you get the point) is anyone who doesn't eat beef, pork or poutry but eats fish, dairy and eggs. They are not a tru vegetarian but it's usually don't for religious or health reasons as opposed to moral.
