Of course you should become a vegetarian. I don't see why one would even have to think about this. Can you tell me even one advantage of eating meat? None!
There are NO vitamins or minerals that are 'only' available in meat. There is plenty of protein in plants. Please ask a qualified nutritionist and s/he will back this up. The animals we eat are bred and killed by us, so there is no question of overpopulation.

If you really feel this way, PLEASE go vegetarian. Ask your parents for help and do your research. You have to be educated about your diet, regardless of what you eat. If anyone thinks that it is a dangerous diet then I should be pretty sick by now!
I've been vegetarian since 1999 and I am in the best shape of my life! With that being said, I do my research, eat the right foods and surround myself (as much as I can) with people that share the same principals and beliefs as I do.
I know I said do your research and that's exactly what your doing by asking such a great question. Don't let anyone tell you that the vegetarian diet is dangerous; it's the best diet for you and for the planet. Please do your research WITH your parents.

Cheese pizza is great. Vegetarian chili (sans meat) is great. Vegetarian lasagna is awesome. Mashed potatoes with vegetable gravy...Tacos! Nachos. Something I love is a meatball sub without the meatballs- just the marinara sauce, cheese, mayo and hot peppers. I'm not great with the nutrition side of being vegetarian, but I do know what tastes good. :)

There are plenty of books on going vegetarian out there aimed at teens. Dreena Burton's cookbooks also have good advice for feeding veg children from birth to adulthood, and you may find insight there. "Being Vegetarian for Dummies" by Suzanne Havala Hobbs is another good book that helped me when I went veg (I was well into adulthood, let's just say that).
As long as you eat enough food (i.e., get enough calories), and you don't have a junk food diet, you will not be wanting for protein. Even vegans get more protein than they need, and too much protein strips calcium from your bones (so ignore the dairy industry's propaganda about needing milk for calcium; societies with high dairy consumption also have high rates of osteoporosis).
Is your family supportive of you? You will want to get them on your side with logic and facts, not solely an emotional argument. Because you are 13, you will need their support. Do as much research as you can to allay your family's concerns.
Good luck.

ok well iv hovered between vegetarian and not. and at the moment i am a vegetarian. if you feel this way, then why dont you try being vegetarian for 2 weeks trial or something, try quorn and everything, and see if it works for you. if you like it, and you want to then keep going, if you find you aren't eating very much or liking what you're eating then stop. or you could always try being a half vegetarian (i was for yeeeears and years!) where you eat fish but nothing else, its a compromise and healthier if you dont like quorn you're still getting protein! also talk to your parents, and all in all DO WHAT YOU WANT!!! if you dont enjoy it when you're having the trial, then dont carry on!! and dont do it just because me, or anyone else tells you to!!

Become vegetarian! I did for the same reason when I was nine. Just make sure you get the right nutrients. You need a lot of protien. (Cheese, eggs, and soy beans are great) It's your choice though. Good luck

Well, to be honest, that slab of meat was created for the sole purpose of being devoured; whether by you or that old man down the way.
But if you are truly becoming opposed to eating meat this will include, chicken, fish, and eggs (if you want to go to extremes) I would advise on doing some reshearch. Your body needs the vitamins that it gets from meat. If you take it out of your diet you'll need to replace it with supplements.
It may also be harder to get all the nutrion you require and you'll have to be alot more mindful about what you eat.
Vegetarianism is fine choice but not one to be make lightly. Consider it carefully.
