well, the food part was easy, i mean if you're really motivated, you'll go cold turkey and never look back (like me--actually, i didn't have the intention of starting right away when i got my book, it just sorta happened)

i'd say the hardest thing is remembering to check ingredients before you eat something..for a month or two i didn't know my vegetable soup had CHICKEN STOCK in it and my vitamins and beloved skittles had GELATIN.

being a vegetarian isn't hard at all though. i think it's the best decision i've ever made in my 14 years of being alive.

there's only a couple annoying things about being vegetarian and this is the huge one:::: people. weekly i get comments when people find out that i'm one. "why would you want to do that?!" "can't you eat fish?" "Meat is so good--how could you give it up?" "What made you decide to make that decision--you're a litte young for that don't you think?"

The hardest thing is giving up "animals". Its kind of hard because im sure all of your friends or family arent vegetarians so it will be occoward eating like this, mean while they are eating animals and you can crave it so much. . But like me i think you shouldnt be a vegetarian. Thats just my opinion though.

Good Luckk =)

The hardest thing is family and friends accepting the decision. Hands down, and running away, that's the toughest part.

I'm vegan.
Eating out can be difficult.
I travel a lot and finding vegan food in an unfamiliar area can be challenging.
Being a guest for dinner at a non-vegan's home can be difficult because many non-vegans do not understand what vegans eat.

Learning how to pronounce ethnic dishes, learning about new spices and ingredients, and learning how to cook all these things I never heard of or could say before when I was a meat eater!

the stupid questions such as
"why don't you eat beef jerky, thats not meat right?" a girl actually asked me that one time
and the whole its not healthy kick my family has right now. mostly the teasing its caused from my family. i refuse to go to any family function that is not mandatory such as christmas, because they will make fun of me until i storm off and just sit in a room alone.

Nothing! It wasn't hard at all! Oh, and to the person who said "omg, why would you want to stop eating meat?": because meat is a living creauture you killed so you could eat it when you could have eaten any other food, and it wouldn't have had to have killed a poor innocent animal! That's why!

Nothing, really. But the endless protein questions get a little taxing sometimes.

Learning what was veg and what wasn't (besides the obvious). Adjusting my thinking and way of cooking. Really, it's just the adjusting that comes when you make a radical lifestyle change.
