See, I've worked out a very simple formula that EVEN you can work out! Ask yourself these three questions.

1. Is it a plant?
2. Is it a fungus?
3. Is it a microbe?

If you answered yes to any of the above, it is vegetarian! If not, it is not vegetarian! Simple!

Any questions?

No questions,I don't see why people need a formula. Honestly,if fish isn't meat then what is it?

Fungus is a type of plant.

There are at least three different types of microbes.

Protozoans are clearly animals--hydras, amoebas, rotifers, etc. People do not intentionally eat protozoans because some of them can make us sick. Since they are microscopic I wouldn't really know if I ate one or not, but I can generally assume I haven't if I don't don't eat dirt or drink river water.

Bacteria seem to be somewhere between animal and plant. We have bacteria living on us and inside of us and this is a natural condition. Other bacteria, of course, can cause infection in the human body. Some are "natural flora" of one body system and cause infections in another--E. coli, for example.

Viruses are neither plant nor animal. It's a little hard to determine why they are alive; they seem to be little more than living molecules.

There are probably other types but I'm too lazy to look it up.

1. is it an animal?

if the answer is yes, then it is not vegetarian.

lol... I was thinking a little bit along these same lines last night. There are only so many elements to consider. Air, water, mineral, gas, plant, or animal and if it isn't one of these it is the other. There isn't some mystery substance thingy that will be whatever we want it to.

I agree with a lot and yes I admit a I am a woman how still eats fish (notice i didn't say pesci or vegi that likes fish, I know how to call it like I see it) but I do not like Sandstorm his questions are very inflammatory and people like him is what keeps people like the rest of us excepting people as thay are, no matter eat or consume. I mean does it really matter people? And yes I am staying away from anything marked with an X. I might eat fish but I DO NOT DO DRUGS!

how about this...if it's meat or fish it isn't vegetarian...if it is meat fish, contains dairy eggs animal by products it's not vegan...I understand that sometimes it's confusing but read labels and educate yourself...
