People who aren't actually vegans call themselves "vegan". So is it a status symbol of sorts? Is that why they call themselves a vegan, while admitting they are just "trying to be a vegan"?

I apologize to those who have been offended by my line of questions and answers. The YA section V & V is for questions and answers regarding V & V, not for the promotion of V & V exclusively though.

Let it be understood that I agree with your cause. I think your cause is noble. To give any negative connotation to your cause or beliefs has not and will not be my agenda.

So please, either answer the question/questions or just ignore it if it bothers you.

I'm writing an essay about what I feel is RIGHT. But also I have to take consideration of the opposing side.

I'm for vegetarianism. So what are some good pro points and , cons. But I want the reader to understand why it's so good and right to be vegetarian.

Please, I'd like to leave out "because animals are being mutilated and murdered for no good reason.."

Thanks.

Last night I made a vegan lasagna (from the How It All Vegan cookbook) with the following ingredients: tofu, soy milk, oregano, basil, salt, lemon juice, garlic, onion, fresh baby spinach, tomato sauce (my own version), lasagna noodles, soy cheese. I have eaten all the items before in many different variations, but in this particular recipe, after eating a few bites, my tongue started to sting. I was wondering if someone knew which combination of items is the culprit and how maybe to go about fixing it? Also the basil was 3 tsp worth, could that be a problem? Otherwise it tasted so good, I'm eating leftovers for lunch...nevermind the tiny bit of uncomfotableness!! Thank you!

Trolls, just please go away.

I'm sure that in 1944, when the term vegan was coined, it was much easier to maintain a truly fully vegan life per definition.

It's impossible to live completely vegan in modern society, so we do the best we can and call ourselves vegan. We're still doing a hell of a lot more for the cause than our 'enviromentalist' meat-eater friends, so lay off.

Don't you miss that lovely crispy bacon melting on your tongue, and the heavenly smell of those juices, just perfect for dipping your bread into?

I say vegetarian only because vegan is a myth.

It seems like vegetarians are snippy, at least here. Are they getting too little or too much of something to cause this?

Ex. Adding too much salt for flavor or too much salt in store bought prepared vegetarian foods causing high blood pressure which results in irritability.

Excuse my ignorance... but do vegetarians still consume the neccasary vitamins, minerals, etc (such as protein) needed daily?
And do this naturally, without the aid of vitamin supplements?

Cows are only fed grain, plants, and water so in reality it's plants in, plants out. What's the difference between eating an ear of corn, or letting that ear of corn be turned into beef and eating the beef. Either way, you're still eating vegetables. Basically being a meat eater is just being a second hand vegetarian, right?

Vegetarians kill far more vegetables than us meat eaters kill. Do you vegetarians ever feel sorry for all the innocent vegetables you slaughter. Just open a can of V8 and tell me that vegetables don't bleed!

I've read a lot about people, having their skin problems go away(acne, etc) after becoming a vegetarian. I've been a vegetarian for about 2 months(excluded fish and chicken), but didn't eat meat for about 5 months. And i thought it would be great(health would improve, etc) But my skin just keeps getting worse and worse.
:((((Why?? What am i doing wrong?
