According to Neal Barnard of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, cheese has casomorphs, addictive chemicals similar to morphine. One of them is casein, an additive added to many so-called nondairy products.

LMAO. I'm the exact same way. But I'm from Wisconsin. I grew up on cheese and absolutely love cheese and don't have any desire to quit eating cheese.

Anyway, one of my vegan friends told me there are actually chemicals in dairy products that have addictive properties, sort of like the tryptophan in turkey makes you want to fall asleep. And judging from the fact that I have a love affair with cheese and could eat it morning, noon, and night, I believe this might be true. We may literally be addicted.

I agree with Iggygrrl... I used to be addicted to cheese and thought it would be hell giving it up. Turns out, I don't really miss it... now just the thought of it makes me glad I gave it up. They're just pure fat blocks of rotten milk... eeew.

It's not bad you crave cheese though... it's not good for you or the animals but there are worse things you could be addicted to.

You probably have a calcium deficiency. Our body tends to makes us crave for a particular type of food when we don't supply enough of what is needed.
You probably process it too quickly and need constant replacement
But i suppose you should vary your diet with milk or other food that contain calcium otherwise you will pile on pounds!

It's strange. When I became vegan, I thought I might miss cheese, since I used to eat so much of it as a vegetarian. I don't miss it at all, though. I'm quite content with my soy alternatives and I feel much healthier for it.

I have heard that cravings sometimes indicate a deficiency of something contained in the food (or substance) being craved.
