someone can be an omnivore and still support PETA.

I support PETA, but only to a certain degree.. Im sure others willl tell you if you ask them, because i, however, am not fully informed about the good/bad of PETA. so, therefore, i cannot tell you any more.

Of course you're not a hypocrite.

You can support anything you want, as long as you are doing something to further that cause... you can't be considered a hypocrite.

PETA are the hypocrites :]
They are the ones who promote veganism, but at the same time suggest eating out at mcdonalds without warning poor unsuspecting veggies that the fries are made using beef extract. ::rant over::

Any change that removes an animal product from your diet permanently is a change for the good. Not everyone has the willpower to go vegan, and some people have food allergies that would prevent them from feasibly going vegan and getting all of their nutrition.

That said, I would remove egg and dairy if you can muster the willpower. Battery chickens and dairy cows have the worst lives in factory farming, hands down.

Probably not.

The milk industry causes the deaths of millions of young male calves for veal meat, not to mention growth hormones and factory farming techniques that the cows live with, so unless you're drinking milk from a small farm that produces the milk more ethically - you're going against a lot of the tenets that PETA stands for.

You can support whoever you want, but it would seem that if you support PETA's philosophy and goals, then you would at least adopt them yourself.

However, it's wonderful that you don't eat meat. Congrats on sticking up for animals and your health!

I was a PeTA member for years, even when I still ate eggs (I still use some dairy).

You can be anything and support PETA, if you want to....... but why would you want to? They're nutty hypocrits hellbent on dragging the rest of us (vegetarians) down with them reputation-wise.

Stay away from PETA, they're just as extremist and crazy as those religious rightwing ultra conservative nutters. I knew one co-worker that was a member. Once they called for donations and she said no (we had crap jobs with crap pay), and they tried to guilt trip her, then when she still said no, they started to get mean. She dropped them after that. If an animal resource is humanely managed there is nothing wrong with its utilization. Realize that animals are living creatures, but so are plants. What makes it wrong to kill animals for food but okay to kill plants for food? Is it because plants do not cry out? Is it because plants are autotrophs? They are still living things. The point is to treat all living things with respect. Biology clearly shows that humans are meant to be omnivores, not carnivores, not herbivores. To do otherwise is to disrespect yourself and your health. How stupid is that?
