Is anyone offended, hurt, disappointed? If so, why?

Do they really matter? Why?

I for one could give a rip less, but I am curious about how others feel. Seems like a wasted feature to me.

I must admit a few of you hit on something that gives me a "twinge" of bother and that is when I give a very thoughtful considered answer that doesn't have an "agenda" and I get a bunch of thumbs down and some dweeb who answers "Kill the meat eaters" get's "BEST ANSWER".

Well, of course I pay attention to them...and sometimes it's nice to give my opinion on what I think of someones answer. But does it really matter to me, when someone gives me a thumbs down?...not really. People do it for different reasons, sometimes justified, sometimes not. But I think that for the most part, people like the chance to "vote".
I will prepare myself now for the thumbs downs....
*drum roll, please*

Thumbs do matter because that can make an answer a best answer if people don't vote or select an answer.

However, many people are childish and thumbs down illogically. I generally thumbs down people who are disrespectful, don't address the question, or answer with something unhelpful or misleading. Although this tends to be many of the answers.

Don't never see the same question twice, that just means you spend to much time on here!! I just like all the English teachers that are on here, always saying learn how to spell rather than giving an answer, those are the people that need to get the thumbs down!

I don't get offended.I was in P&S and some guy got 6 thumbs down for putting his age "22" on a question that said "How old are you?" Lol,I thought that was hilarious, all he did was answer the question.

Yes,they matter. When your answer gets chosen as best answer you get 1 extra point for each thumbs up you get,you get 1 point taken away for each thumbs down you get for a best answer.

I kind of like it. It can be somewhat satisfying when you just can't stand somebody's answer.

Mr. Meat, if you think this forum is silly, why do you waste so much time here? Do us all a favor and take a hike.

Reporting somebody can be pointless; I don't think they really do anything unless somebody posts racist, pornographic or violent material.

It can tell you whether or not asker will choose your answer--it will therefore help you decide if you should edit it. Me, I don't care, I try to tell the truth frankly as possible.

It hurts a little bit when I go outr of my way and give someone a great, helpful response and the YAY BEEF crowd do it out of spite.

Thumbs down don't bother me.

The only time it bothers me is when you answer a question straight up and people give you thujmbs down because it is not their opinion or agenda. I think what bothers me more is when some "certain" people ask stupid questions and they get multiple stars.

Actually I never purposely look. It really doesn't matter to me. And I don't give them because they are meaningless.

Now if they had a "middle finger up", I would give them quite a bit on this silly forum.
