I am devastated. I took so much time to teach my cast to be vegan. What should I do? I think all animals have the capabilities to become vegan. I am adopting as many as possible to start my dream, but this cat is a set back.

I knoew you hatemonger would never understand. My cat loves her vegan diet. She is so happy and purrs all the time. I didn't want to ge ther declswed but she needs to learn hunting of any kind is wrong. I think this is why sharks are turning to humans to eat instead of seals. They have discovered the vegan diet and the yare now after the immoral ones.

Cats hunt. No matter how domesticated, or how vegan, they still have hunting in their genes. Did he eat it?

Cats are meat eaters. There is no changing biology. In fact, any veterinarian will tell you that a cat needs to have a VERY high protein intake, so much higher that cat food is unhealthy for dogs, as they are not strictly carnivores and tolerate fruits, vegetable and grain foods fairly well.

As much as you might prefer it if no animals were carnivores, that is just not how nature works. There is a food chain and without it, the whole system can and will break down. If birds didn't eat mosquitoes, we would have swarms of them and increases in disease. If coyotes (and cats!) didn't eat mice and rabbits, they would become so overpopulated that they would run out of food sources and begin to starve to death, which some would consider to be a much crueler sentence than the alternative. That is just the start....add up all carnivores and what they eat and really consider if you believe you have a better plan than what already was worked out long before people were ever even a thought. I do have to think that you are joking though hmmm?

What should you do? My answer to that is, leave cats alone, you should not have pet cats! You aren't suppose to force them into anything!!!!!! They aren't people, they can't think like people and they shouldn't be forced into being like people. What your cat did by catching a mouse is perfectly normal for her/him, in fact they think they are doing something good. Are you aware that the bubonic plague was cause by the murder of so many cats that rats were allowed to breed rampantly? I dislike animal cruelty as much as anyone and I'm a vegetarian, but I would never impose that life style on my pets!

Yes, sad to say, your cat is a backslider. I can understand your devastation and maybe feelings to cast the cat out into the darkness.

But be understanding. Even the most scrupulous vegan can backslide once in awhile. Your cat is no exception. Think about this "slip" in the total context of your cat's life.

The main thing is that your cat get's "back on the horse" and get into the vegan track.

You may be able to teach it to not eat meat but Cats are born Hunters as are all animals you will never be able to get that out of the cat. So there is nothing you can do they will hunt if given the chance.

oh for God's sake......why do the misinformed, uneducated people try to make animals vegans? Cats and Dogs (moreso cats) NEED meat! They NEED to catch and kill mice to get the need amino acids....taurine....convert vitamin B12 and so many more things ONLY FOUND IN ANIMALS TISSUE!!! Please stop trying to make your animal VEGAN....its hard enough for YOU to be well by not eating meat - and can be DEVESTATING to your cat!

I have a veterinarian assistant degree after spending many years of my life working in animal hospitals and kennels....believe me - I KNOW what I am talking about...you will REDUCE the effective life of your cat by NOT giving it meat....and for your dog too!

What more can I say!!!!

People too - need meat in order to fulfill the necessary protein in our diets....other kinds of protein in vegetables DONT work the same as those found or assimilated by the body - from meat!

Seriously.....

I think that the hunting of this mouse has nothing to do with being vegan. My cats hunt out of instinct, but don't necessarily eat what they catch. It is just a game to them and they play with the little mousie until it dies. Sorry, even if it's gross, it is their natural instinct.

Why are you screwing mith nature. A cat is a hunter, teach them to eat what you want, but they will always hunt. Personally humans are the problem not animals being a vegan is fine and dandy, if you want to deny you own biological make up. Your an omnivore! Get over it. If you want to do something to help the animals eat a human. = )

Oh Lord, child! Would you stop messing with Mother Nature!? I find it very disturbing that you are trying to intervene and change God's food chain! Cats and dogs NEED meat! It is a natural part of their diet. You're going to end up with a bunch of sick animals. Do the right thing. Feed them what your vet recommends...or don't they believe in going to doctor's either?
Come on.....

Your cat is not a vegan, your cat is an immoral beast who will burn in hell when it dies. You should probably just kick it out of your house before it's evilness brings trouble to your entire household.
