I have heard that when you switch from a meat-eating diet to a veg*n diet, your body goes through a detox. Is this true? If so, how long does it take?

okay, this may be a silly question, but i'm just not sure...i am vegetarian. i do not eat eggs b/c i always thought of them as like an unborn animal...but can vegetarians eat eggs? b/c eggs are used to make a lot of stuff...see, someone told me that there are two different types of eggs:the unfertilized and the fertilized. she told me that the unfertilized egg is the kind people eat and that they are okay for a vegetarian to eat b/c they are not an animal, just an egg (i mean women have eggs too)...she said the fertilized egg is the kind that hatches and turns into a chick, and that is the kind that we don't eat...that is the kind that is raised on the farm and made into meat for people to eat or to lay more eggs....is this true? and is it okay for vegetarians (not vegan) to eat eggs? kinda dumb question, but THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see a lot of asking about fake meat, or veggie burgers, or what is it... quorn. I've never had any of those things and I'm curious... I have never missed meat since I stopped eating it, but does eating things that resemble the taste or smell ever tempt you or make you miss meat? I'm just curious.... tell me about it.

I've just been told that the 'fake-meat' I am looking for is seitan (thanks guys!) and was given some tips on how to season it. I'm feeling lazy though so was just wondering whether anyone knows of a ready made seasoning I could use and where i could buy it? thanks

My husband says he is going to leave me if I don't start eating meat again. I have ate nothing but veggie's for about two years and he has not gotten used to it. I still cook his supper almost every night and I still cook him the same things I always have, pork chops, fried chicken, hamburger steaks, etc. I became a vegetarian to loose weight. He was all for the idea when I lost the weight. He used to like the new me , but now he says he is sick of watching me eat nothing but veggie's. He is saying that I am unhealthy and he liked the old me better. His mother is steadily telling him to leave me because I have lost my mind. He has been eating at her house the last week and a half. I told him that I would do better and start eating meat, but now I just don't have a taste for it anymore. Should I force meat down my throat or just let him leave. I sure hate to loose him.

So far, I have basil, cilantro, lime, garlic, galangal, lemongrass, ginger, thai chiles. Does anyone have any others they would like to mention?

My b/f likes Thai food and I want to make him a veggie juice and juice a bunch of Thai stuff in there to try and make a Thai veggie juice.

I prepared my fresh veggie juice this morning with celery and carrots. I have it in the frig and i made over 3 cups and put it in a 3 cup plastic jar. I want to drink half now and the other half later. Will my juice loose its minerals if I leave the bottle half full for a few hours? I heard that fresh veggie juice should not be stored in a container with air in it because it will loose its minerals. If the liquid is not filled to the top does that mean it contains air?

People ask vegetarians and vegans if they think about the 3rd world countries when they eat, and I'm not sure if anyone else does, But I certainly do. Cause I know that if people stopped demanding as much meat as they do, then all the grains and food given to the animals to eat, and most are suitable for humans to eat too, then we would be able to send all the extra food to third world countries. I mean I'm not saying anything bad its just that if nobody ate meat, or at least cut down on meat, then world hunger would end. && Also Like. If nobody ate meat then the oil in the world would last 260 years longer. So jaa. Whatever. Thats all I have to say.

I was in tesco the other day looking for meat substitutes and all I could find were vegetarian products. No vegan because they mostly all had egg whites in them. I did get these nut cutlet burgers in the end but I will need more of a range. Where do you people buy your from?

I realize we all have different styles when it comes to reaching the rest of the world with the truth about how animals are really treated. I have my own style and you have yours. I just get so frustrated sometimes when I read stuff like... "We have been eating animals for centuries so why should we stop now" and "We have cuspids which are made for tearing meat", etc., etc.. I just want people to stop killing animals, that is all I ever wanted. Can we look past our differences and focus on a common goal. All this hating one another is not helping anything.

Isn't fish meat as well? most vegetarians don't eat other meat because they feel bad the death the animal has to endure.

But doesn't the fish have to be gutted, and killed as well?

How is eating fish different from eating beef or pork or any other kind of meat?

And please don't say " Its very healthy for you" other wise I'm gonna think most vegetarians are quite hypocritical
