I don’t pass out gummy candy, but I will spend a lot of money to get all the big chocolaty things I was excited about as a kid (I am a sucker for making kids happy on holidays.) What do you give, and does your veganism affect your choice?

Thanks!
:)

I am a carnivore to the extreme. I eat steaks, by the ton, and have been trying to eat more fruits and veggies. The problem is: I HATE sweet things, and most fruits and even some vegetables are too sweet for me to enjoy. What protein-rich non-meat could satisfy my meat voracity without being so sickly candy-sweet? I love deep greens, but they only leave me dying for a giant slab of meat on the side.

Y/A has a special section for the tofu lovers, but no section for us meat eaters. We BBQ lovers need a section too!

It seems that veggies who dont eat fish look down on us who do, whilst non veggies think were crazy and question why fish but not pig or chicken? Well i'll give you the answer, i'm a growing girl. I need my protein and iron! I dont always like to eat fish, but I do it so I grow normally. Also, fish are free and have a chance to live a happy life, unlike pigs and chicken who are destined to be eaten, and live sad little lives in cages being forced fed until they burst....

Any comment? Bring them on!

I am joining you!!! Haha! I'm so excited I've decided to make this transition in my life. Over the years I have just lost my taste for meat and now whenever my mother cooks with it I can just smell it so strongly and it turns my stomach. I've been wanting to do this for a long time and I am so happy that I've decided to become a vegatarian. Any helpful tips on getting started?

Could the position that a lot of meat eaters take on vegetarians being pushy simply be a latent memory of their own parents telling them as children, "you eat those vegetables mister." Therefore they think anyone who is pro-veggie is a veggie bully... or are there really veggies out there that hold people down at random and make them eat brussel sprouts?
You make the call?

True vegetarians or vegans don't eat yogurt.

Ever taken a look at the side of the yogurt container?

It has Kosher Gelatin. Ew.

Do you?

why is it alot of vegetarians feel the need to make everyone else one,
i mean i accepted along time ago that everyone has their own way of doing things leave it to them,
even peta have this attittude of be vegetarian or dont be! like its a club (i know its an organisation)

so its very split..why cant they incourage people to

eat LESS meat

..maybe they do but no that im aware of it would be saving animals lives stil!

is there a certain snobery that goes along with alot of vegetarians, alot of them i know look down on people who eat meat like its disgusting and they should be ashamed of themselves

i mean come on alot of meat eaters think there being ridiculous but there not going around shouting theri stupid in their face all the time

so do you think there would be alot less demand for animals to be slaughtered for meat if alot of people cut down rather than a small minority cutting it out altogether

I was recently at a barbecue at my boyfriend's families house.
His uncle, who might i mention was sweating liquor through his pores begins to tell me and my boyfriend that we will have to eat meat eventually because it is really unhealthy and that we need to eat meat. After that he begins telling us about a vegetarian that he knew that after six years had to go to the hospital because he was so sick from supposedly not eating meat. I replied (trying to be polite, i can't be mean i still have to have my boyfriends parents like me until we get married haha) "Actually, you are extremly incorrect people only need small amounts of protein and iron which they get from vegetables, nuts, beans as well as the mock meat products, Also, my doctor told me that i should not eat meat due to my heart problem that i was born with because meat is so bad for your heart as well as other things" After i said all this he continued to tell me that i was wrong and that i will get sick.. What do you say to someone who bombards you like this in front of a ton of people.

One year ago today, I became a vegetarian. August 15, 2006!!! So to end my anniversary, I decided to ask a question...How long have you been a vegetarian/vegan? I'm really curious about all you people that answer questions in this category so I figured this was a good way to get to know you a little better. Here's to another year...Cheers!!!

i recently asked a question if eggs were meat, and i found that although they are in the meat/protein group, technically they are not meat, so a vegetarian could eat them...and someone also posted a site showing how chickens are crammed in such tiny cages...well, that made me decide to not purchase eggs, unless from a farm where i know the chickens are properly taken care of...now, obviously cows are treated badly when used for meat, duh...but what about cows used for milk/dairy???? are they crammed in tight spaces with nowhere to roam? i know the farm by my house lets the cows graze, but is that how most "dairy cows" are treated? i only wanted to know b/c if they are treated as poorly as the chickens, i think i may switch to soy milk....or possibly go vegan...idk...any answers are great! THANKS!!!!

If new scientific evidence came out that proved beyond any doubt that plants have emotions and can feel pain and suffer horrible death when cut down or harvested, what would vegetarians eat then? Would they all simply just have to starve to death?
