Legumes and beans are good sources of non-animal based protein. Plus, if eaten with a carbohydrate source such as rice or pasta they can make a complete protein (i.e containing all essential amino-acids). You can try replacing any meat in a stir-fry with tofu and then serve it with rice or having a pita sandwich with hummus, tomato and cucumber.

Well...we wont suggest fish because vegetarians do not eat fish anyway.

Whole grains, beans, nuts, legumes, soya products are all excellent sources of protein. Almost anything else you eat also has some protein.

Here is a whole web site with a list of foods and how much protien. Just make sure you are getting a variety of protien and not just getting it from one source and also make sure you aren't eating a lot of protien at once but in small portions throughout the day or the excess protien that your body doesn't use will be stored as fat.

Unless you're an athlete, you really don't want to be eating too much protein. Excess protein consumption does a number on your kidneys and leaches calcium from your bones. Even veg*ans eat more protein than they really need.

Meat (beef, pork, chicken, etc.) contains a full range of necessary proteins. Things made with soy, or soy beans, also contain these proteins.

Other high-protein foods include eggs, cheese, and peanuts.
