My SO usually insists on getting a huge bag of those mini-chocolate bars (we're vegetarian but not vegan) & I contribute the coolest stickers I can find, various small toys & something "extra" for the kids we actually know (small bags of pretzels, more elaborate toys etc.). Last year we also passed out informational pamphlets about bats-- seasonal & AR-related (the kids got candy, too). Sometimes we get gelatine-free fruit snacks & add those to our 'cauldren of goodies'.

Well, I wasn't vegan last year but even if I was it wouldn't have affect what candy I bought because coincidentally, the candy I usually always buy is vegan anyway. So I'll stick to what I normally get, Dum Dums, Air Heads, and Jolly Ranchers. I was always more of a hard candy fan myself. Sometimes, if I can ever find them that are miniature, I'll buy Chick-O-Sticks because my boyfriend loves them.
Veganism would affect what I normally gave out though if what I normally gave out had meaty or milky things in them. It's not that I'm trying to impose my beliefs on others, it's just if I bought dairy or gelatin filled candy, that means I'm contributing to industries I'm strongly against which would make me a hypocrit. So I'll just make kids happy with vegan candy. Oh, also, if I have enough money I'll usually get tiny bubble making bottles or other kid party favors. Most kids that come to my door are really young and they like things like that. I think their parents appreciate it too over tons of chocolate, lol.

Last year I still consumed small amounts of dairy, so when it came to passing out foods, I swore I would not buy anything I would not feed to my kids (this is because children tend to want candies when they see them and my son has a couple allergies and sensitivities). So that basically meant nothing with animal derivatives or hydrogenated oils. So chocolate was our main choice (found a couple of other things, but came in small bags and costed more... though I can't remember what they are now!). This year is completely different as we won't consume any dairy! As for actually trick or treating, I hate to say it but my kids might not go (such a shame) because I don't want them eating any of that crap even in small amounts (again has to do with them being so young they don't understand they shouldn't eat certain items not only because of vegetarianism, but also because of allergies). Which also means I might not pass any candy out (Again, cause my kids will want some too). I might go for some Organic Raisins and small toys (not from china as those are laced with lead). It will be difficult! And yes my food choices for myself, affect my food choices I distribute!

If what you are looking for is some vegan candies..there is ton! check out this list of well-known candies that happen to all be vegan!..(http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/VeganShoppingQS-Snacks.asp?Category=Snacks)
but why limit yourself to only pass out sugary candy? you can pass out nature's candy, like raisins! or any dried fruit for that matter. or nuts. you can also pass out like mini-bubble bottles, glow in the dark necklaces, stickers, small character notepads, whistles, etc..
the possibilities are endless.... :) have fun!xoxoxo

When I was a kid, my grandmother gave out pencils and boxes of raisins with scriptures taped around them for Halloween. We received a plentiful supply of toilet paper in return.

everything that goes..
i'm sorry i don't push my beleifs onto others.
kids should enjoy their holidays.. it's really up to them what they want to do.. it's not up to me.
happy halloween.
oh and i pass out alot of rave toys!
blink! blink! blink!
besides... most chocolates have animal product in them.. so to use your veganism on this situation you'd practically have nothing candy like to give out.
it doesn't work... let everyone have fun this holiday season.
