I just recently became a vegetarian, but I am thinking about cutting out the dairy as well.
I tend to crave ice cream more than i should,
and vegan sundaes look healthier and yummy.
Does anyone have a simple, good recipe?

Turtle Mountain Purely Decadent Ice Creams are the Ben & Jerry's of the vegan world.

They also have a So Delicious line of "regular flavors" (like neapolitan). Get some Ah-Laska chocolate syrup (I like it better than Santa Cruz), find some Soyatoo whipped cream, some nuts, and you are good to go.

There are a number of other good vegan "ice creams," but I'm partial to Turtle Mountain's brands.

Sadly, I don't know of a good vegan butterscotch or strawberry sauce.

You can find the chocolate sauces and Soyatoo at most natural food stores or www.veganstore.com or www.veganessentials.com. I think one or both also has the little sprinkles, too!

If you can get a Vita-Mix you will be well on your way to superior health. Get some good soy milk pour it into ice cube trays. With your Vita-Mix get some good organic fruits blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, etc. Blend them up with about a quarter cup of pure water then freeze that concoction too. If you put a bunch of different frozen fruits in the freezer until you need them along with the frozen soy milk you can make your own treats whenever you wish. Take the frozen soy milk ice cubes out and put into the Vita-Mix add a couple of cups of frozen fruits and blend well. While it is still frozen pour into cups or bowls and have the healthiest ice cream anywhere. I am sure that Vita-Mix has this recipe for normal milk, but you can substitute soy milk and enjoy it even more.

Coconut sorbet is the most amazing, creamy "ice cream" I've ever had. It's very rich. I've use it to make pie "a la mode" and I've made sundaes with it, too. Yesterday I made microwave toffee (recipe here [I used a stick of Earth Balance in place of butter and I used walnuts]: http://kitchengifts.com/toffeerecipe.html ) and there were a bunch of pieces too tiny and crumbly to bag as toffee so I put a few spoonfuls on the coconut sorbet...OMG it was the best sundae I've ever had.
I've also taken to using frozen fruit and rice milk to make a sort of sorbet. So far I've used peaches with brown sugar and cinnamon (1 pound frozen peach slices, 3/4 c sugar, 1/2 c milk with spices blended in a processor until smooth) and then I experimented with strawberries and mixed berries, too. Good stuff!

God, I'm such a soy ice cream junkie! If I want something quick, I'll take a mint chocolate chip Tofutti Cutie and scarf it down... after, of course, I cover it with Stop&Shop brand name chocolate chips (dairy-free) that I've melted in the microwave!

I love freezing bananas and then throwing them into a blender with vanilla soy milk, peanut butter, chocolate chips, strawberries, raspberries, even sprinkles! Anything I have on hand, really. I'll make it nice and thick and then eat it with a spoon, like the BEST ice cream in the world.

Oooooh, ooooh, I also love to microwave bananas, and then cut them down the middle, lengthwise, and then dice them, and then throw them on top of a couple of ice cream cones I've crumbled in a bowl, and then shoveling some vegan ice cream on top, and then pouring chocolate syrup over it!

You're killing me here, I hope you know that. I'm going to have to eat all of this tonight. And, to think, since becoming vegan I've eaten all of this and still lost 14 pounds!!! Good luck!

You have to try this, very simple and oh so good!
Peel and freeze (for at least 24 hours) a few riped bananas (wait until they have brown spots on the skin to be sure they're sweet enough), then simply put in the food processor and blend them until it's totally smooth, like soft ice cream.

Last night I tried and dropped a few fresh raspberries in it (about 12 raspberries for 2 bananas) and blended them together. It was heavenly!!!

Sorbet ice creams have no dairy. They're basically fruit and/or natural juices with ice. I imagine you can use any type sorbet to make a yummy sundae!

The easy way would be to get soy-based ice cream product from your health foods (or even regular grocery) store. Then top it with your favorite syrups, fruits, or nuts, and you can even get soy-based whipped cream nowadays. Build your own favorite flavors.
