I'm interested to know what lacto-(ovo) vegetarians think of dairy, where it fits in with you ethically. I suppose it really comes down to welfare v. abolition, but how do you feel about it?

Forced impregnation, connection with the veal industry, used solely as a commodity, etc.

i cried for joy today when i watched what could've been the death of a cute duckling due to pollution, he saved himself and waddled away with his mother and duckling sib. i often find myself wondering what kind of a life the animals on the side of the road led and squirrels seem so wonderful and happy all of the time. oh, and i had chicken for dinner.

i receive emails from peta on a daily basis and have even sent away for the vegetarian starter kit (which is just a magazine by the way) i thoroughly enjoy soy milk and love to eat my vegetables. growing up in a "meat and potatoes" kind of lifestyle makes the conversion to veganism (is that the word?) seemingly impossible. i would love to start small with vegetarianism but every time i start i resort back to my animal eating ways. i love animals SO very much but have ZERO self control.

any tricks of the trade i should know about? i am disgusted with myself and need to make a change NOW!

I like having most raw veggies with a little bit of dip. I've been using a sour cream dip, but I really want to reduce my dairy intake. Is there a good soy alternative? What are some good recipes?

About 2 months ago my husband and I decided that our family were going to become vegetarians. We have had no problems in doing so, our kids are doing very well with it also. My question is how do you all handle the rude comments that are made when people find out you don't eat meat. We have heard everything from we are retards to we are starving our children and they are going to die because "God wants us to eat meat and we are not natural by not doing so". It is very annoying and really is starting to make me mad. I am not a circus freak who has horns growing out of my head or anything like that but that is how people make me feel sometimes, when they have to bring it to everyone's attention that I am a vegetarian. Any suggestions???

I recently became a vegan for health reasons. I am planning on having children and am just curious about what vegan moms feed their children. What about when they go to a freinds house or birthday parties with cake and icecream? Would they get sick if they were not raised with that kind of food but ate it when they were old enough to go to freinds houses?

All the questions on the V and V Forum from the Trolls... How can a person be so worried about what everyone else is eating? Why harass people for their choice in food? No one gets all belligerent if you choose Salmon over Steak But if you choose Veg over Meat its a battle. So meat eaters Show me your logic If you have any.

I'm asking just out of curiosity. I don't know much about being a vegetarian, or vegan. I don't plan on being one either, if that makes any difference. anyways, I read someone asking about how to cut the grass without hurting bugs. So then do people try not to step on the grass because it might kill an insect, or do people ever think that maybe a bee was killed so as to pollenate the veggies that they are eating. (I know from being on plenty farms that they grab honey bees, stab them with a metal piece, and rub them one by one on the flowers of plants to pollenate. Sometimes there aren't enough bees in a specific area, or its to expensive to rent them or purchase them from a bee farm) So then, While I do realize plants don't feel pain, insects im sure do. Does that impact what you eat as well?

I have an issue. I have been a Veg for almost two years now and I love it. I feel great. My issue is that I love vegetables so much that I'd rather eat them than eat fruit. I hate anything sweet, so I find most fruit is too sweet for my taste, including apples and oranges. Could this be making me unhealthy? I usually drink two glasses of orange juice a day with added vitamin E and A, but other than that, I have no fruit intake.

If anyone has easy and tasty tofu recipes could you share a few? I don't want fried tofu since I eat it cause it should be healthy. I bake extra firm tofu in the oven at about 375 and it turns out ok (harder on the outside, soft inside) but it's nothing great... Thanks in advance.

I'm going to get married and I am a strict vegetarian. My Fiance is not, he's a big meat eater and I don't expect him to change, I'll respect that beacause I love him. However, people ask me, "how will you cook dinner?" "How will you buy meat?" "What are you going to do?"
Does anyone have a similair situation or any ideas?
PLEASE BE SERIOUS. I DON'T WANT TO HEAR FROM IMMATURE AND RUDE PEOPLE. I WILL REPORT YOU.
