The edible thing with a face must itself be eating something to stay alive, so it's actually impossible for it to be the ONLY edible thing... who says I can't just eat what the edible thing with a face is eating? Or eat what the edible thing's food is eating? The point is, if something is alive, it's part of a food chain and I've chosen the link of the chain at which I'm comfortable nourishing myself. If somehow someone contrived to trap me in a true eat-or-die situation, I suppose I'd reevaluate because I don't actually have a death wish. But your scenario isn't it.

I'll be incredibly honest with you... No one in this forum is in a Situation where they might Starve to death... So no person can answer you truthfully.... Until faced with the situation you can't ask what any one will do...Now the question comes up in my mind... If a vegan or Veg is "Stranded In The Middle Of No Where" and finds something with a face that means that creature had to survive off of something.... My wilderness survival training taught me.. A person can live off of nearly anything... So it is possible they wouldn't need to eat this creature your talking about...

Absolutely noone knows for sure what they would do, so for now, this is just an exercise is high horse morals.
Do any of those that answered they would not eat the animal but would rather die, believe suicide is a sin? By the way, drinking urine is a no brainer. It is a little over 98% sterile when it leaves the body. Probably alot of city water is worse.

As a last resort.
During WW2 there was a a Japanese work Camp, where the prisoners were feed only meat, fish, no vegetables at all, 99.9% of them died. The camps that feed the prisoners only vegatables, even though it was not enough food(calories) many lived. You can live on only potatoes, but not on just beef.
This is from John Robbins latest book Live to Be 100. Most of us, eat way more than we need, being hungry is not straving.

Eat it ??
No, i'd die.
We've had this question many times before. Some people do not seem to comprehend that morals should form part of core life-values.
What is the point in asking this question ? Quoting extreme situations does nothing to in-validate veggie or vegan morals you know.
Nice to see that Calab can "guarantee" that we'd eat meat rather than die....Wow, i didn't realise you knew me better than i did - that's some skill you've got there !

If you were stranded on a boat at sea, and the only edible thing left was another person that died, would you resort to cannibalism? Hey, meat's meat, right?

It would be easier to eat the vegetation that this creature was eating, than to capture and clean the creature you are talking about.
I doubt you would be able to catch the animal you discuss, without the loss of needed energies. Collect vegetation, chew on it, and save and replenish energy more efficiently.

I'm a vegetarian. Personally, I wouldn't. It's bad enough the way they already slaughter animals, but to have to have to do it myself would be even worse. Like the first answer, if I were going to die anyway, I wouldn't want to kill an animal simply to prolong the agony a little longer. (Eating would prolong things because you wouldn't starve.)

If you have been a vegitarian very long you would know that if you ate red meats like cow ,pork, deer, rabit etc. you would be very ill the next day. You would have no emzines for it in your body. It would be very toxic & even poisoning if you did. So the answer would be no I would not I would look for grass or bark from trees or a fish but not red meat. I could be so poisoned from it could die.

Nope. I'd rather die. If the creature was friendly, I'd probably befriend it and we'd probably end up dying together. That's what friends are for! They transcend the species barrier and are there for you until the bitter end.
Cheers.
