I was watching Rachel Ray and she made a gravy with tomato paste and fresh rosemary. I tried to copy her recipe. It was my first time buying tomato paste; it tasted so bitter I had to add sugar to the gravy! Does it always taste that way?

I usually oven fry chicken, but once in a while I like "real" fried chicken. When I try to fry it, it tastes delicious, but no crunch.
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I love crispy chicken, but mine is limp. Help pls. I want to surprise my family this week. When I tell them I'm frying chicken they look at each other and roll their eyes cuz they like crispy too. One other thing I can't make well is brownies. I never know when they are done so they are over, or underbaked. I do have a list of other foods but I'll save them for another time as I don't have enough time to list them all . lol

I can my own tomatoes. Fresh whole or sliced, and have been canning for several years. They seem to turn brown after a year or so? any ideas as to why.

I am preparing a Portobello Mushroom dish for Valentine's Day and I would like some feedback.

Recipe:

Portobello mushroom marinated with a balsamic glaze
Stuffed with Ricotta Cheese and spinach
Topped with a tomato slice coated in olive oil and Italian seasoning
With melted mozzarella cheese on top

Side dish is linguine with marinara sauce (mushrooms and garlic)

Please let me know what you think and if I can add anything or take anything out. That would be fantastic.

I love steamed brocolli and am looking for a topping. Most restaurants coat it in butter and salt and it tastes yummy.... but I don't need the added calories and sodium.
