A few days from now, my parents are coming home from a hectic week long experience and I want to surprise them by cooking them a good dinner/dessert.The problem is, I have little cooking experience and no transportation at the moment so I have to make due with the ingredients I have now. The good news is that the whole dinner is prepackaged :P but the bad news is I have no idea what to make for dessert and I have no prepackaged stuff.

I have the basic ingredients (eggs, milk, butter, sugar, flour, etc) and quite a few spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, etc). I have 5 apples, a bag of chopped pecans, a bag of chopped walnuts, a tub of whipped cream, and condensed milk.... that's about all I can think of ingredients wise.

As far as tastes go... my parents like apples so it would be nice to get a recipe that involves apples but it's definitely not necessary.

Thanks A LOT in advance!!

They are each about a pound a piece. They are de-frosting as we speak and are uncooked.
They don't fit into any pot I own...although I am hoping after they thaw a bit I can fold them in.
I have butter, garlic, Old Bay, lemon and lime juices... and lots of other spices.
Please help me! How to I steam them and season them? How long? Can I break them if they don't fit in the pot after they thaw?
Give me all ya got!

Thanks All!

I'm making pretzel salad. The topping is mixing one large pack of strawberry jello with 2 cups hot water, 1/2 cup cold and frozen stawberrys. When it starts to gel you can scoop it on the layer of pretzel salad. My gelatin mixture is not getting thick. Did I do something wrong or is there anything I can do to fix it??

Hehe, this sort of spawned off another question of mine.

How useful do you think a mini-lightsaber, or lightknife, would be in the kitchen? Less hassle?

I was thinking it would melt whatever you're cutting, but we've all seen how clean cut Luke's hand was. ;)

My husband needs to eat more healthy, problem is he's a big junk food fan and he prefers things like chops and steaks and meals like that that are high in fat.Does anyone have any suggestions of meals i can cook him that won't make him feel like he;s eating rabbit food, but will be good for his health, and help reduce his weight.

I am having a Christmas dinner and I have 9 guests. I would like to serve a ham (not a spiral ham). I found a great recipe. It says to put cloves around the outter part of the ham as well as cherries. How do I make the cherries stay in place? Do I use toothpicks or would they start on fire? Also how big of a ham should I get for 8 adults and 1 child??

How long before one can become a good cook? Nothing major, just enough to feed the family and few friends once in a while. I mean how much time and screwed up meals does it take to be able to put diner together without sweating it too much?

I've seen this recipe a few times before, and never bothered saving it... now I want to make them and of course I can't find the recipe!

I don't know exactly what the cookies are called, but in the pictures I've seen, the dough is colored red and green, and it's twisted to look like a candy cane. I know when I made them a long time ago, I put peppermint extract into the mix...

So if anyone could post a link to this recipe, I will be forever greatful!!

Thank you! :)
