I'm making pretzel salad. The topping is mixing one large pack of strawberry jello with 2 cups hot water, 1/2 cup cold and frozen stawberrys. When it starts to gel you can scoop it on the layer of pretzel salad. My gelatin mixture is not getting thick. Did I do something wrong or is there anything I can do to fix it??

I bet the frozen strawberrys gave off too much water! You can save it...make another package of jello with only 1 cup of hot water then add it to the other mixture. Put it in the fridge and wait.......=0)

The amount of frozen strawberries should be at least a cup.

If you don't have any more strawbs, put the bowl into the fridge to cool down and gel. And NEVER put pineapple in gelatin - it will NOT gel.

Why are you making this concoction? For what occasion are you serving it? Is it an accompaniment to some main course? Or other food substances? Did you eat it once and now want to try to make it? What made you choose this over, say, a Waldorf salad?

I think you were supposed to use equal amounts of water, 2 cups of hot and 2 cups of cold. The directions are on the box. Good luck next time.

I made something like that a few weeks ago sooo good, did you put it in the fridge? The recipe I used said it had to be refridgerated for 45 minutes to an hour then scooped on the preztel bottom.

You might be using too much water. When you add the frozen srtawberries, you need to reduce the water. Read the quick gel method. Replace the ice cubes with your strawberries.

You needed to add 2 cups of cold water instead of just 1/2 cup. I'd just start again.

if you follow the directions, it should work right. every time i've ever made jello, it worked. it takes a while for it to gel up, though.

Did you put it in the fridge...it has too cool way down for it to thicken.
