How much ham can you eat, a pound? 1/2 lb? I'll say with eveything else that's going to be on that table 1/4lb. Now break it down IF they all ate 1/2 lb each (Rolaids Please) that would be 7lbs minus the bone and dunage so you're looking at 10-12 lbs

Well, at Thanksgiving I bought a 4 pound ham, because we were also serving a turkey. The lady told me that was for 4-6 people. . . .We made probably about 4 good sized servings, and there was almost none left. Worked perfectly for us actually. But, that was a spiral ham, so a lot of that weight was the bone. . . .I'd say you have to figure at least a half pound per person. So you'll want about 8 pounds to be on the safe side. Maybe make two smaller hams? Because I do mean you'd need 8 pounds of MEAT. . . .People tend to take more than they eat, if this is buffet style. Keep that in mind! And also base it on what sides you'll be having.

Since a serving size of protein is about 2 ozs. the question really is, do you want to have left over food or not??? If you want to cook just enough for everyone to have second helpings then a small ham 5 to 7 pounds would be very good. If you want to have left over food, (and most of us do, leaves you free from cooking for another meal or two) than you want to get a 10 to 15 pound ham.

Moobiemuffin is waaaay off, and DragonLoverTX...when was the last time you ate a 2 ounce steak? If you are feeding some big appetites, figure around 16 to 24 oz. per person which is 1 to 1 1/2 pounds each. Less if there is going to be sides, and more if you want some to be left over for lunches.

Figure a pound of ham per guest if you have a nice selection of side dishes. So 14 pounds at least, more if you want leftovers for sandwiches.

I would go 1/2 pound per person.....7 pound ham should do it. More if it is bone-in ham. Then use it bone to make soup...=0)
