Hehe, this sort of spawned off another question of mine.

How useful do you think a mini-lightsaber, or lightknife, would be in the kitchen? Less hassle?

I was thinking it would melt whatever you're cutting, but we've all seen how clean cut Luke's hand was. ;)

knives require pressure to cut, lazers don't, this would be disastrous for absent minded cooks.
