I've seen this recipe a few times before, and never bothered saving it... now I want to make them and of course I can't find the recipe!

I don't know exactly what the cookies are called, but in the pictures I've seen, the dough is colored red and green, and it's twisted to look like a candy cane. I know when I made them a long time ago, I put peppermint extract into the mix...

So if anyone could post a link to this recipe, I will be forever greatful!!

Thank you! :)

Candy Cane Cookies
1/2 cup butter (no substitutes), softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
1 teaspoon peppermint extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
Green and red food coloring
In a bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugars. Beat in milk, egg and extracts. Gradually add flour and salt. Set aside half of the dough. Divide remaining dough in half; add green food coloring to one portion and red food coloring to the other. Wrap dough separately in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until easy to handle.
Roll 1/2 teaspoonfuls of each color of dough into 3-in. ropes. Place each green rope next to a white rope; press together gently and twist. Repeat with red ropes and remaining white ropes. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Curve one end, forming a cane. Bake at 350° for 11-13 minutes or until set. Cool for 2 minutes; carefully remove to wire racks. Yield: about 6 dozen.

They are called "candy cane cookies"! Here's one recipe but if you just google the name you'll be presented with a huge selection of recipes:

(this one doesn't use green food coloring, but it does have a picture so you can be sure it's the right one before you make it)

I don't have a link, but I have made them before.

I just bought pillsburry cookie dough, dyed one half red, one green.

Rolled it into "snakes" and twisted into candy cane shapes.

I crushed candy canes and topped them with that.

They were good.

Sorry I couldn't help more :(! Good luck!
