My husband needs to eat more healthy, problem is he's a big junk food fan and he prefers things like chops and steaks and meals like that that are high in fat.Does anyone have any suggestions of meals i can cook him that won't make him feel like he;s eating rabbit food, but will be good for his health, and help reduce his weight.

David, my husband is wonderful and caring, he is being responsible and eating better but he is finding the food boring so i thought I'd find out if there are some yummy but healthy recipes out there as he is not able to do so due to the fact that he is a very hard working man, working to earn the money that enables me to be a stay at home mum so i think he deserves to have me take care of him in this way don't you think???

go back to basics start out with a raw salad pick different salads so it doesn't get boring (sliced cabbage really thinly add a little olive oil and apple-cidar vinagar salt and pepper with sliced tomatoes or traditional salad (dark greens) shreaded carrots, raddish slices, red bell pepper slices just salad with at least 3 raw veggies. Then make a warm veggie (homemade) soup with lots of garlic, celery, ginger, little bit of onion, some greens or spinach think root veggies. Then a normal sized main meal. And a dessert everytime (make wise choices) I like that pineapple with shreaded carrots mixed with low fat yogurt with walnuts. Just remember fruit can be great sweet desserts. Then close with a hot drink like green tea with honey or steevia a little lemon. Serve that main meal with not just filtered water maybe squirt a drop of food color and add cherries on a toothpick or lemon or lime slices even blender mango with 100% oj- not from concentrate or banana and berry smoothie get creative. At least since you're a stay a homer you've got time to prep and shop and find those great easy recipes to help your hubbie stay healthy and full. Both ya'll incorporate a daily exercise together - yoga for couples, dancing, walking or the other grown up thing.

Ask him if he would prefer to have a deck of card size of steak or pork or a huge chicken breast. You can put on bbq sauce and it doesn't add that many calories and almost no fat depending on the recipe.
Don't put the meat and potatoes on until you have all eaten a salad with lite dressing and a big glass of water. Then take your time refilling the water glasses and maybe some red wine.. and then the rest of the dinner. That way the salad has had a bit to settle and he won't be apt to eat as much.
Tell him you want to experiment with different salads because it is something you are interested in... for you. And you want him to be the taste tester. Go on line and get different salads everyday. It is fun and you can come up with ideas together. By the by, balsamic vinegar and a bit of olive oil makes a killer low cal, healthy dressing
Splurge a little on the weekend and he should be satisfied.
Good luck!

I use our grill year round. Grilling is healthier and you are not cooking in all the fat.
Lean Meats, Chicken, Salmon, etc.
Stem the vegetables. Steaming releases more flavor than boiling them because you do not loose the flavor in the water.
Salads can be made in a variety of ways. You don't just have to use salad greens you can make chicken salads with nuts and grapes in it.
Baked potatoes are good and even better are sweet potatoes. You can top baked potatoes with all sorts of things. It is all in moderation of course.
There is nothing at all wrong with bread. You just have to limit how much you eat in one fay.
There are a lot of great recipes on allrecipes.com.
But, if you just adjust the way you cook certain foods and limit the amount you consume it can ,make a world of difference without making him feel like he is eating "rabbit food".

Give him the food he wants, but smaller portions. He can have steak, chicken breast with potatoes and veggies. Just make sure the steak and chicken aren't over 6oz. He can fill up on salad too. Or if you like, make pitas. Then he has to eat the "rabbit food" as part of the filling. I just starting a diet today so I'm doing research too.....=0)

I like to do weight watchers, but not the points I like the CORE menu. The variety is good and with the core foods you get to eat and eat and eat and eat. I use whole grain pasta now, and while I HATE the brown rice I mix it with white rice and it is better. Now I am not a preacher, but once you do the core diet for like 30 days you really do look at what you eat because it seems to educate while you participate. I am not on the core at the moment (I should be), but because of the knowledge that I gained while on it I do tend to choose healthier alternatives. Get all the info at weightwatchers.com I think the internet fee is small, but well worth it. It provides menu's etc etc.....
Good Luck,
Jason

If you have a Whole Foods Store, buy some buffalo meat or ostrich meat. Both taste like beef but have a lot less fat. You also could eat more fish. Don't fry, broil. Make home made soups without all the bad salt.
He has to do his part and exercise more.

You're not his mom. Tell him to wisen up and start behaving responsibly. Why do all the immature men get the most caring wives? And the nice men get selfish, cruel wives. Everything is so upside down in life.
Well, does he like any ethnic foods?
I'm sorry if I came across as too harsh. I was actually jealous that your husband has such a caring wife. Tell him he's lucky.

Well try making meals he likes, but just healthier versions. For example, make a pasta which is whole wheat, with a light sauce from fresh tomato. . .bake your chicken instead of fry it. . .Try smaller portions. . . Try to make some yummy salads instead of boring basic old thing. . . . . Start off easier.

That is healthy food, just don't eat alot of it at one time, just like the person that orders Jumbo fries and a diet coke or the guy that say's" I need to get in better shape", put the beer down first, ok that one...
