I had a baked potato in a restaraunt once that was absolutely delicious and have tried to make one like it at home with no luck. It was obviously baked wrapped in foil as that is the was it came to the table. The skin had been coverd in butter and then rolled in garlic salt. It was SCRUMPTIOUS! However when I tried it at home, as the potato baked and the butter melted, it seeped out of the foil and dripped all over the bottom of my oven and made a mess (not to mention the smoke it created). Any suggestions as to how I can make this potato without setting off the smoke alarm and having to break out the EZ- OFF oven cleaner immediately after I cook?

hi - I had pancreatitis 4 years ago which is why I went to a vegan diet, so I take pancreatic enzymes with all my food. BUt the enzymes they give you is pancrealipase, which are pig enzymes, available only by prescription. There are fungal enzymes available at health food stores - but there are several problems with the possibility of taking the fungal enzymes which are vegan - 1) they are not FDA approved - 2) they are totally untested - nobody knows if they are effective or not. 3) The amount of lipase, protease, amilayse in the fungal enzymes is measured by a totally different measuring system than the pancrealipase (pig enzymes) - because the method is manufacture is so different, there's no way to find out how many fungal enzymes you need to take to take an equivalent amount of the prescription medication. 4) they are expensive. But I dont' think I want to be eating pig products every day, I don't feel good about it but I dont' feel like I have a choice.

I didn't get much juice from it (as I imagined) I thought about blending the broccoli and then adding it to the juice.
any tips? it's a shame to waist all that broccoli for a small amount of juice....
thanks in advance.

Not vegan, never.

So, if anyone became vegetarian after having eaten meat on a regular basis, did you miss it much? Really, as far as meat goes, I only eat chicken and turkey, so it wouldn't be cutting much out.

Also, lentils, chick peas, black beans, etc., are among my favorite foods, so I would be getting plenty of protein without meat.

Do you recommend it?

I'm a vegetarian and I have no idea what to eat on the holidays when everyone else is having turkey and ham as their main course. What should I eat that would be delicious and still seem traditional.. Preferably southern American food.
