I just noticed the label on a henna conditioner that say blah blah blah about how great it will be- then one of the ingredients is placenta!Has that always been the case or is this a new product.

Henna in itself is a plant that gives off a natural reddish hue. The placenta was probably just something in that particular product. That's why it's important to read labels. Good job catching that!

Fortunately there are lots of henna products that *don't* have placenta. Some companies make it easier by stating "Cruelty-Free" or "Suitable for Vegans" on the label. If I'm low on funds I get the $1.99 cruelty-free stuff from Trader Joe, which doesn't contain henna but makes my hair smell like fruit salad.

I don't think it's an ingredient in all henna conditioners.

The Eckerd by my house sells a foil packet of placenta conditioner -- no henna or anything, just placenta. The salesgirl tried to get me to buy it. She said she uses it and it's only sort of slimy and gross. What the heck does somebody say to THAT? I got out of there asap.
