I read (with no source) that: The name alfajor is derived from Arabic الحشو IPA: [alḥaŝu], which means "stuffed" or "filled".

I was wondering if this is true and why it was used as the name for this South American food.

* I believe in this way :-
1- fill your cup with the required amount of water.
2- place it in the microwave for 1 1/2 minute on high.
3- when ready, add the coffee + milk, suger as u prefer.
Then enjoy your coffee, as by this way, it will have special texture & lovely coffee colour!!

It says on my box of eggs they're from hens "able to roam freely during daylight hours." I'm suspicious of this claim. They're not just kept in slightly larger cages, are they? I'm not a chicken-hugger, just curious...

My wife is a "cutter". She says tearing lettuce bruises the leaves. I always thought "tearing" lettuce was the commonly accepted proper way to make lettuce for a salad. What is right? I am especially interested in the answer regarding homegrown organic lettuce; as perhaps the grocery store lettuce is bred to be a bit more bruise proof (my speculation)...

I can't make up my mind because I already have a perfectly functional blender. It just looks old and cruddy and when it used to belong to my friend who gave it to me, it was borrowed by her creepy ex boyfriend who used it for bud busting. On the other hand, I just got an expensive new food processor so I don't want to be too greedy about appliances.

I have a lemon bundt cake with glaze that I want to cool overnight. It's already cooled over an hour. Should I cover it with plastic wrap overnight or will that mess up the glaze?
