Smack it! Truly, if it sounds hollowish, then it's ok.
Also the smell. If it smells like it's fermenting, then don't eat it.
Open it up.If it pours out juice, then it's too far gone.

Just give it a tap with your finger ends, if it sounds hollow its ok. try drilling a small hole and pouring in your fave spirit, Voddy, Gin, Tequila or whatever through a small funnel you have inserted into the hole you drilled. This process takes a few days, just a little at a time. Over a week or so your bottle of Voddy will all be inside the mellon,plug the hole and leave for a further three or four days, open the hole enough to pour out the mellon spirit. Sieve, bottle, chill n enjoy.

tap it with an open hand and if it souunds hollow it should be gud. once uve cut it hav a taste if its juicy and still has firm tasture then its good to go. but if its real soggy or smells its gone-chuck it

What are you doing still up? Thump it on the blossum end and it should sound hollow. It should be fine if refrigerated.
