Stick toothpicks in it first to hold the plastic wrap above the frosting -- or use a large bowl/container to cover it -- or even stick it back in the oven or microwave; both should be air-tight.

Hi Good luck on your cake. I would leave it be you have nothing to worry about in leaving it out overnight. If you are worried about bugs or flies maybe getting on it then I would put it in the microwave but I would not shut the door I would drape a piece of plastic wrap or foil or even a towel over the opening. If your microwave is to small you could do the same thing only in your cooled oven. Your cake needs to stay dry. Any moisture could ruin the frosting if you have already put it on, and your cake could also become chewy (good for brownies not good for cakes). I hope this helps.

Plastic wrap will stick to the glaze. Try a very large mixing bowl over the cake instead. Allow the glaze to set overnight.

if you have those food covers that looks like a half moon wire mesh, this should be ideal. Plastic wrap may retain steam/ moisture which cud in turn drip onto the glaze and ruin the look of the cake on the top

That will mess up the glaze. You should get a plastic cover to put over the pan, you can buy one in any grocery store. But it won't get hard at all overnight if you just leave it like it is.

If you put something over it just make sure that you don't cover it tightly. If it is still warm there could be steam that could get trapped inside and make it a little wet. that is how I make my muffins, though. I bake them, take them out, then when it's just cool enough so it won't melt the plastic I put them in a ziplock bag and seal it. It steams and the outside is nice and moist! To moist for some people, though. I like it when you just touch the top and part of it comes off on your finger because it's sticky! That's just me, though! If it's cool enough for your cake you could probably go ahead and seal it up, though, it will probably be just fine.

Don't cover it with plastic wrap! If it isn't fully cooled it will sweat plus it will mess up your nice glaze. Use a big mixing bowl to cover it. =)

It will mess it up. It still might be a bit warm creating moisture & making the icing melt. Do you have a large Tupperware cover or cake cover that you can put over it? Even a large bowl might work.

Stick toothpicks into the cake so that the plastic wrap rests on them instead of on the cake itself.
