I can't make up my mind because I already have a perfectly functional blender. It just looks old and cruddy and when it used to belong to my friend who gave it to me, it was borrowed by her creepy ex boyfriend who used it for bud busting. On the other hand, I just got an expensive new food processor so I don't want to be too greedy about appliances.

MJ, we all love to buy ourselves new goodies. So you have to analyze whether you should afford it, rather than if you want it. Check out the models you like, and what they cost. Do you need the most expensive? Or do you really only use the same features the one you have has? Don't let emotion sway your choice. Then, once you decide what model you want, and how much that is, check your finances. I suggest you look at suzeorman.com for support there. Suze is a financial guru, she has a great website, too. Then you'll be sure when you make a decision.

Yes, food processors don't process alot of liquid. There is a hole in the middle that liquids will drain from. A blender is better for smoothies, shakes and malts.

The best professional blender is the Vitamix. They use it in all the juice bars and ice cream shops.
