I am very excited and will be getting engaged in the next couple of weeks. I want to start thinking beyond the ring and the dress and the ceremony. I want to be a wife that my bf/fiance can be proud of.

What kind of qualities are important for me to have? All answers are welcome!

I guess i am a dummy. I found my dress last year Feb. Mar.. And well i fell in love with it and bought it. I was heavier at the time, and have since lost 25 pounds, and continuing to lose weight, and my wedding is not until next october.
This Sunday i plan on having a seamstress look at the dress to tell me whether or not they are able to take it in. But if they cant, do you think Davids bridal will except an exchange for a smaller dress?? I know that they still sell the dress at the store, because i tried it on last Saturday when looking for bridesmaid dresses. I called to ask, and they said they will probably have to get a managers approval and make sure the dress is still resaleable... I dont want a different dress, i just want a smaller size... Has anyone had experience with this, or have any advice to give?

Ive seen a lot on here about fake wedding cakes (with a sheet cake hidden in the back) and fake flowers. I just do not get the point of fake stuff. Now before you start calling me snotty for saying this, I truly think that there are always better alternatives if cost is a factor. For example, I would rather have a cupcake cake or a selection of fruit pies than a fake cake. I would rather have just a few flowers or bunches of dried lavender than silk flowers that "look so real". I feel that the joy of these items is the fact that they are real. What do you think?

Has anyone ever combined (or witnessed) a wedding and a baby christening? Our 8 month old baby girl is going to be part of the wedding. The maid of honor is going to walk her down the isle and give her to her dad up front. The pastor will say a few words for our family and my mom will take her for the remainder of the ceremony. However, I'd like to put a twist on it and have her christening on this day. There are several reasons why I want to do it. I understand many people wouldn't want to do this. I would really appreciate advice or suggestions on the best way to approach making this a unique and special addition to the wedding. The pastor has agreed to it. We're meeting him this week. I'd love to hear imput or suggestions. This will be his first time doing both at once. I'd love to be prepared before we meet him. Our daughters God parents are in the wedding and all of our closest family and friends will be there. Any advice?

My fiance and I are getting married in March and have started putting together a guest list. We want to keep it small, between 20-30 guests, but his family is huge and we dont know where to draw the line. We are inviting parents, siblings and grandparents for sure, and like 3 of our best friends. I only have one aunt and uncle and I would like to invite them, but would it be fair or right, because his aunts and uncles wouldnt be invited? To invite all aunts and uncles we are looking at close to 50-60 guests and we dont' want that. How do you tactfully draw the line?

If your engagement or wedding ring were synthetic diamond instead of real diamond, would you be offended? Would you not care? Would you be happy?

On a different note, would you rather have your ring be a complete surprise (and risk not liking it), or would you want to pick it out yourself?

my boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years and are currently "engaged" (minus the ring). I am 18 and he is 23. We want to get married in June after I graduate high school. He will be attending a university and I will be going to community college (at least for the first two years). we dont plan on getting pregnant within the next four years.

I know that I, at least, am young. And I also know all about the higher percentages of failure, those arent really the answers Im looking for.

Any thoughts? Advice? Similar Situations? Experience? Im looking for any outside input because I am looking for various opinions.

I would like to add that he is very financially ready for marriage, and the lack of ring has nothing to do with that aspect, but rather personal preferences.

How much should we expect to spend on a wedding cake with the following descriptions? (And yes, I know that this is a question for a bakery -- we aren't at that stage of planning yet, so I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect).

*Three tiers; 150 guests/slices.
*In each tier, four layers of white cake -- middle filling is marzipan and other two are raspberry preserves.
*Buttercream frosting. Sides rolled in toasted chopped almonds.

Anyone know how much I can expect to spend? Does the description above sound more or less expensive than another cake for the same number of people? Is there a "least expensive type" of cake?Know of any ways to cut costs?
