Does a venue take off money if you use there catering and around what range should I aspect to pay for a room for 100 people in the detroit area?

I've heard from different people that sometimes if you use there catering the room comes free?

I am getting married in May and I have a venue and they are catering the food and it is about 40.00 per person. They normally charge per person as I would not pay no more then that.

It really depends. What kind of a venue is this.

There are typical reception sites. These are venues where weddings, proms and other large parties are held. Often, the place charges per person and has a few different packages available. In your package, you might pay $80 per person (average price in my area). Plus, you'll pay about a $500-1000 deposit to reserve your date and time. These are places where you can not just rent the room, but you need to sign a contract stating which per person pricing package you'd like to use.

In a case like that, the use of the room, the chairs, the table and even the waitstaff is factored into the price per person and the initial deposit price.

If you are simply renting a room (say in a historic mansion or a plantation) The owners of the space or the company might have preferred vendors or caterers. If you don't use their caterer, then you might be charged for the use of the room, the rental of the chairs, the tables, etc. You might have to provide your own waitstaff too.

I've most seen reception sites that offer you the use of the room and assortment of packages in different price ranges (per person pricing). I think this is the best way to go. Everything is including in one package; the bar, the food, the room and the table/chairs. Then, all you have to do is find your own DJ.

You have to look at each venue separately.
I've found some that add a charge for the room, others where the room is not extra.
This is a question you will need answered by each venue you consider.

well, you figure the pricing is different for each.

if you were to rent the room alone, it would be a flat fee

if you want to cater your event then you pay a price per person based on what they eat. the cost of the room is figured in the price per
