I bought my wedding dress at davids bridal. Does anyone know the exchange policy. I like my dress but I would like to have a different one from another store. Can you exchange your wedding dress for bridemaid dresses?

I wouldn't want to have some unorganized chefs cooking food for my wedding reception.

I'm a bride to be and getting married in the NY Metro region. I've read a lot of answers regarding how much is appropriate for a NY metro wedding and most have said $100 per couple is sufficient. I know that gifts are not required technically but I think the trends also include the bride and groom paying for the wedding themselves and usually going into debt to do so. If people give $25-100 total for themselves and their guest if they bring one, I think the couple would be the ones trying to make ends meet to pay off the loan for a lot longer than they had to. Most reception sites in the NY metro region are greater than $150 per person for a Saturday night wedding. It is an honor to have guests but at the same time i think guests should try to cover the plate. Should people accept to go if they know they can't afford it? Otherwise, should they plan to go out less on the weekends so they can save, after accpeting so that by the time of the wedding, the guest has funds to give?

This is for a couple who is not too concerned with the "norm", and has already discussed marriage - This being said, any creative ideas to propose in reverse? It's not a question of if he will say yes, but more about creating a story that will be told for years to come :)

Also I’m already married, me and my husband went to the JP and get married, but I really wanted to have a church ceremony. So it’s really not a wedding but more of an exchanging of vowels. We will still have a reception and all that.

My little sister is getting married July 8th and I didn’t want to start to plan anything because I didn’t want to over shadow her. As matter of fact we kinda kept it a secret from a few people because I wanted her to have her big day.

Now with all that said I’ve seen every possible thing that could go wrong …go wrong. I know you can never really plan a perfect day but I want to come as close as possible. And I was just wondering when is the best time to start to plan. What should I plan first?

My fiance and I are getting married on June 7, 2008 and are thinking of ideas as to what we'd like to do. We live in MD and are thinking of going on a cruise in NY to Bermuda. Yet, we were wondering if an all out resort would be better or even just as nice. Also, money-wise which would be the best choice. I would prefer going somewhere tropical so I can be nice and warm and such.... and I LOVE the beach!

I would get the circle ones and it would be on a pink envelope.

It would be faster and easy for me to print them and stick them. (I could print every single envelope in the printer but it would take forever and I need to use my works printer because it’s a higher quality. If you use a cheap home printer then tend to smear when they go through the post office machine and heat back up.) I have terrible hand writing, I don't want to pay someone to do them and I don't have a willing friend or family member with good hand writing.

In a world with cash bar, money trees, dollar dance, asking for cash gifts all the hundreds of tacky things people do today..... Are printed labels on wedding invitations that big of a deal?

This is my second marriage and I have pretty much all I need as far as household items go. I really don't need towels, dishes, etc...I understand those gifts are inevitable, and I will appreciate anything my guests would care to give us...

my question is: if we don't register for gifts are our guests more likely to give money? that is what we need- we are preparing to buy a home and would be thrilled to add to our downpayment.

I would never ask for money- that is the height of tacky....

My friend is engaged and decided she wanted to marry her fiance' before he is deployed to Iraq...in 7 weeks. We're just starting to figure out everything she needs. We picked out her dress today, bridesmaid dresses are picked out, she knows what church she wants to get married in, but hasn't alerted them to what day she wants. (infact, she doesn't know a date, his deployment keeps getting changed). My friends and I have never planned a wedding. Can someone give us a general run-down of what we need to do? (including things that are often forgotten!!)

Thank you so much!!

Ok, here is my issue. I asked my mother in law to do my hair for my upcoming wedding. Now, I want an low-updo but she thinks I should pile a bunch of curls on the top of my head. I do not want this and have voiced it to her several times. Now I have convinced her that it is my day and my hair should be the way I want it. BUT now we have a problem with my veil. I want it on top of my head - it's just that I have always imagined my veil kind of cascading over my shoulders - and she says that since my hair will be up (really, it's like the nape of my neck!) that I HAVE to wear the veil under my bun. I really don't like the way it looks on me. Yes, we have messed with my hair when I am wearing my dress and I really, really do not like the veil the way she wants it. She says that it is improper to have a veil on the top of the head with any kind of updo. I disagree. I think it would look fine. Who's right?
