Does anyone (who has attended over 20 weddings) remember any favors they received? I cannot name one-just curious if you remember one.

I've attended 100s and can't remember. I usually leave the dust-sucking junk on the table.

I blame Martha. 20 years ago you might get some Jordan Jawbreakers at an ethnic wedding. Nowadays it's pirated CDs and dollar store goodies.

"What's inexpensive, but doesn't look cheap for favors?"
I think nothing is the best answer.
Let your guests take home great memories of a good time.

Not been to 20, but a couple of the weddings were on a budget and didn't do any favors. A couple did the usual chocolate hearts or sugared almonds. The last wedding I was at was a lucky dip on the lotto - I won a tenner ! Great idea.

I can remember some of them:

about 6 of them were boxes or baguettes of candy (Hershey kisses, m&m, mints, jordan almonds, etc.) one was in a little champagne glass.

1 was a writing pen with the couples name and date

1 was a bookmark with the couples name and date

1 was matchbook with the couples name and date

1 was great, it was a coupon book (the brides father owned multiple restaurants and businesses in town)

I went to one or two that did not have favors. I almost forgot to do mine until by sister remembered three days before the wedding and took care of it (candy boxes again..lol)

Eeek that is all I can remember. Sorry.

A tree seed
A tin of M&Ms
Bells
cookie cutters and recipe
mini bottle of the grossest champagne I have ever tasted
wine opener
choclate golf ball and personalized golf tee
plated silver cate cutter

Thats all the weddings I have been to since people in my family started getting married, I cant recall what my oldest sister gave and I actually called her the other day to find out what it was and she couldnt remember what she gave either. She thinks maybe she didnt do a favor, but isnt sure.

I hear ya...I've always thought they were a waste. I just was MOH in a wedding in April, and the bride spent tons of time making chocolates...they were lovely, and delicious...and most of them were left behind on the tables at the end of the reception...what a shame, but that is what becomes of most favors.

I guess the point of favors is to thank the guests for coming, but I think instead of giving me some dollar store trinket or m&m's, I'd much rather you just had a fun reception! It's an evening out, a good meal (hopefully), open bar, dancing, being with friends and family...that's plenty enough for me!

I can't remember all of them but...

1. a postcard with a pic of the couples dog dressed in a tux, said a donation had been made to the SPCA in our honor

2. this recycled pressed paper in the shape of a dragonfly with wildflower seeds pressed into it so you planted the whole thing in the ground - said in loving memory of the grooms mother

3. caramel apples

4. a seashell bottle openere

5. a christmas ornament

6. a little bag of M&M's that said the couples name on it

7. a candle holder made of ironwork

Those apparently were the good ones or the people closest to me :-)

In reverse order:
- a shot glass with the names of the couple and the wedding date, and inside was a organza bag with tootsie roll candies, the bride's fave.
- yummy mints in tulle tied with a ribbon and thank you note
- a piece of porcelain - it's white, stylized figure of a man and woman embracing, about 12" tall - very beautiful
- wine glasses with the name of couple and date etched on
- chocolate spoons, decorated and wrapped; specialty teas
- Jordan almonds (yummers!)
- bottle of homemade wine (it was great!)
- package of "forget-me-not" seeds
- little sheaf of real wheat (fall wedding), decorated

That's as far back as I can remember... that's about the last three years...

Those net bags with almonds (always gave them to my mum as she loves sugared almonds, I hate them!!)

Chocolates in stacks, tied with a ribbon.

Scrolls I think!! I seem to vaguely remember a scroll sitting inthe draw for months and months.

Those are the only ones I can think of

A CD with the couple's favorite lovesongs, crappy almonds in mesh, a garden pot with seeds filled with kisses, uhhh - that's about it - and yes I have been to at least 20. That's all I can remember, ha!

My sister's wedding we each took home a centerpiece
the rest were stupid things that we threw away when we left, who honestly wants a bookmark, or a packet of seeds??
We are doing personalized shot glasses, something almost everyone can use, these won't gwet thrown away!!
Why waste money on something no one wants
