I would get the circle ones and it would be on a pink envelope.

It would be faster and easy for me to print them and stick them. (I could print every single envelope in the printer but it would take forever and I need to use my works printer because it’s a higher quality. If you use a cheap home printer then tend to smear when they go through the post office machine and heat back up.) I have terrible hand writing, I don't want to pay someone to do them and I don't have a willing friend or family member with good hand writing.

In a world with cash bar, money trees, dollar dance, asking for cash gifts all the hundreds of tacky things people do today..... Are printed labels on wedding invitations that big of a deal?

yes, Pink Denial- I know it takes more ink and it takes an hour per sheet to dry but then it NEVER comes off. If you use cheap printing ink- It will come off when the mail machine heats it back up and it will smear all over itself. Just recieved a invite printed that way with cheap ink it's a mess, I can barely read it all the letters smeared. And I know they used a cheap home printer. I have a proffesional printer at my work!

Yes. If you can't do it properly, get a calligrapher.

You're already going nontraditional with a pink envelope, so printing on these gold labels won't be a big deal at all.

However, I've printed on such labels before, and you must have a very high quality printer, and preferably not an inkjet. When an ink jet prints to regular paper, the ink soaks into the paper. Depending on the coating on these labels, the ink will not soak in. See if you can get a test sheet before ordering.

On a related note, you're a bit backward about the high quality versus low quality printer and smearing. The high quality printer uses more ink, so it takes longer for it to soak in and dry, and so it is more likely to smear (if you don't give it time to dry before mailing, that is). The low quality printer uses less ink and so it dries faster. But so long as you give it enough time to dry, either will work just fine.

ETA: Sorry, bubbles, the post office's machines do not "reheat" the cheap ink to make it smear. Moisture, not heat, makes the ink run and smear. I'm in the printing industry and handle such things every day. If you received a smeared envelope, it was because the paper was cheap (and so didn't absorb properly), because the sender didn't give the paper time to dry, or because the printer wasn't set up for the type of paper being used.

I don't mind printed labels at all.... HOWEVER, I do take notice of the personal touch of a handwritten envelope.

Of the 3 wedding invitations I've received this season, two of them were printed envelopes, and the other one was handwritten. I love the handwritten one, it was lovely and in such pretty handwriting.

I honestly didn't see the printed envelopes as less than the handritten one,but the handwritten one MADE a statement, a personal touch is always a good thing.

I believe that the labels, although convinient, would be a hinderance to all the work and care that you have put into selecting invitations that reflect yoru personal style. I love the invites that you chose, they are so unique and reflect your personal style... so, why degrading it with something so impersonal as a label? That's just my personal opinion.

Yes, handwriting envelops is time consuming and tiring, but they really make a difference. Do you know anyone that has great handwriting? Your mom perhaps? -mothers normally have awesome handwriting-. Otherwise, I believe that printed envelopes are the next best thing.

Labels are nor tacky, but they are impersonal. The design that you chose on a pink enevelope would look lovely, but cold. That's my personal opinion. I would print the envelopes instead if handwriting is no an option. You can use the printed labels for the RSVP cards instead.

Good luck

Now that there are dozens of gorgeous fonts available I say go for it. I don't really like the gold circle labels. I would recommend a clear label. Make sure you get one for laser printers. Also, they won't smear since the laser printer sets the ink with heat, but this only works if you get the right type of label. Definitely don't use a typical font when you print the labels. I would use something like Lucida Handwriting or other Script font. I seriously doubt that anyone will remember that you printed labels for your envelopes. We did this for my brother's wedding over 10 years ago and no one ever mentioned it.

I personally wouldn't think twice about printed labels on an wedding invitation I recieved. BUT it is considered improper etiquette to not hand address the envelopes. Most of your younger guests won't mind and probably won't think a thing of it but be prepared for your older guests to scoff at least some.

I know when I got married my mother FLIPPED OUT when I suggested we print the address labels because my handwritting is awful. And my mom is the most computer savvy person I know over 40! She ended up addressing all two hundred envelopes herself.

A good compromise might be if you are using inner and outer envelopes is to handwrite the inner envelope but use printed labels on the outside. That way the more personal envelope is personally addressed.

Good luck and congratulations.

I have horrible handwriting and plan on using labels too. Can you put the envelopes in the printer and print directly ON them? That'd save the cost of the labels.

I think it's absolutely fine. The gold labels will look really nice and fancy. Printing addresses on envelopes is not even an option if you have a lot of envelopes. Don't worry about it.

I was in the same boat as you....my handwriting is HORRID, and as big as I am on ettiquette....my invites stood a lot better shot of getting there with legible typed writing than they did with my awful writing! I did mine in a font that matched the invites and to me it looked better. Not to metion if you have a really cool invite they aren't gonna remember the envelope anyway! I don't blame you for wanting to skip the calligrapher....its overkill if you ask me. Now, order those labels and get printing!

I think labels are great, and those look really nice. I might bookmark that site! I can't recall ever caring if a wedding invitation I received was handwritten or not. I don't even know if I noticed at the time. I say go for it!

No, it's not tacky at all...I'm going to print the addresses directly onto my envelopes...and I'm using a font that looks like handwriting...Good luck!

I'd try to get clear labels--then you could use a font that would be vaguely calligraphy-like, and they'd look great.

Besides, that's just the envelope. No one looks at that anyway!
