She will be 6 months when we get wed in June and I have already bought the dress - a separate skirt and corset style top (boned). Is it possible to get them altered so big? especially the top as it is tight fitting.

what is the normal length for the engagment before you get married???

On the day of my engagement, i and my fiancee sat whole night alone. we talked whole night and on that day he insisted me for the kiss. i gave him kiss on his cheeks but later he wanted lip kiss and for that i was not ready. As i felt little bit awkward. i had never kissed before. So please tell me what should i do to remove my shyness. He does not wanted to force me. Later i gave him a lip kiss but it was like just to touch the lips nothing else. it was just for a sec. if we would have a long kiss than is there any problem i mean is there any chance of pregnancy. He tells me that now next time when we will meet i should be free to talk freely and not to worry about anything. i felt bad as i was not able to support him. i told him i need a time. The reason he insisted was as we are staying far and we meet only near about 2 months and we have met only twice till today. and this coming May, we are getting married. so is it ok to have physical relationship before marriage. Help me out.

My fiance and I have been having a long distance relationship for years so we attend different churches in the countries we work/study in now (i.e. Australia and Singapore). We would like our wedding to be held in our hometown in Malaysia - thus the difficulty in getting our pastors from our current churches. We need a Christian pastor to officiate our wedding - all I'm looking for is really simple - just the official vows in the presence of God.

My friend asked me to Stand Up at her wedding, I haven't done that, Ever!, What exactly does one expect from one standing up in their wedding, and what are your duties, etc?

Please explain.

I'm getting married in June and want to invite some of my work colleagues. My office manager made some nasty accusations about me. If I don't invite her, I feel that she will make my life uncomfortable as she will feel left out. But I don't want her there.

The reason I don't like her is that another colleague complained about my standard of work (partially justified, this colleague didn't tell me there was a problem with my work, just went straight to the top to complain). Anyway, my office manager was less than supportive and made some claims against my work of her own (which were untrue) to her line manager. she's been nice to me since, but I don't trust her. Should I invite her to keep the peace?

What in the world is going on? My sister is getting married in April and being a traditional family, we wanted to throw rice as she left the garden after saying her vows.

But the groom's family informed us that the city has an ordinance against throwing rice at a wedding. How stupid is that? It has been done for hundreds of years!

Why is this prohibited?

Was reading responses to another question and it was stated by a few folks that tradition must be adhered to where weddings are involved, with no exceptions. Why is that?

The maid/matron of honor if he's a guy?

My bride-to-be and I are going to have our brothers (one each) stand up with us. My brother's position is called Best Man, by tradition and all that. But we're a little fuzzy on what to call the job on the other side - for the wedding program and newspaper announcement.

I already have a standing commitment to refer to my attendants as 'groomsmaids'. I was a 'bridesman' in one of their weddings, so that matter's settled.

Look my "boyfriend" and I have been together 2 1/2 years, have a 5 month old son, and lived happily together for 1 year. I am more than ready to make him my husband. He says he's ready but when I tried to set a date (cuz it's gonna b this summer or I'm leaving) he kept stalling me until I got mad. And now I still waiting on a ring. I mean Valentines he kept talking about how he had all these things planned so you know what I expected but Nope I didn't get it. So now I like does he really wanna do this or what.

Here's random details:
We're both 20.
He cheated in the past.
I still have trust issues.
I honestly in my heart believe we are soulmates.
He works and takes care of us.( I'm a at-home mom)
I truly believe he loves me.
I don't think he is cheating.(He's always at home (AND I MEAN ALWAYS))

I'm 21,my sister's 30.My sister has 3 kids by 3 guys. She has no job(by choice) & lives off a combo of my 7-year-old deaf niece's social security check, food stamps,& WIC.I'm living with my fiance, who is also 21.We both work full time & support ourselves. We're getting married in Sept. & paying for the wedding ourselves. My parents promised to help out,but backed out because they had to help my sis, something they always do.Recently,my sister asked me if she could borrow all my wedding things for her own wedding. This includes the decorations,my dress, veil, garter, everything but the wedding rings. She says she's marrying the dad of her youngest child & they're waiting until after I get married so they can use my stuff. She gets in violent fights with this guy every other week. She burns his things, kicks him out, cops are called.I'm offended she even asked b/c my fiance & I worked very hard to pay for our wedding.I feel she's just trying to get attention.Am I being selfish?Should I loan it to her?

My boyfriend and I are talking about getting married, becoming officially engaged in a few months. I would love to get married in November because my parents will be celebrating 25 years together then and it would mean a lot to me. However, that would leave only 5 months from the formal engagement to the wedding. I don't want to inform my parents, who will be assisting financially til I'm formally engaged. (Though my mom has been probing me on the subject a lot lately) Not looking to have anything big or extravagant, just a small gathering of friends and family--the only thing I really want is a gorgeous dress. Is 5 months long enough to plan a small wedding(and by small, I mean small)? Thoughts and personal experiences welcomed :)

Has anyone ever been to a wedding reception here?

We just visited this site and loved it, but a few dollars over our budget. We are going to try to lower the price or some extras we don't need, any sugestions on that too would help.

We have a tight budget (I'd say less than $750). We have a reception site, a photographer, all of the other ducks in a row, but we need the location! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My sister is marrying a man from the Netherlands. A lot of our relatives have not met him before. As the Maid of Honor, I was thinking about a couples bridal shower, maybe a 7pm wine and hors d'oeuvres. Do you think that is stupid? Any suggestions to make it work?
