Every bridal shower I have been to, the groom has been there. Even non-couple showers. My groom doesn't want to go. What do you think- should a groom attend the shower?

I am anticipating several kiddies at my daughters wedding... it is an adult event....but thats another story. My own kids are grown and its been a long time.....ideas for puzzles, novelties that would be appropriate and inexpensive as a "favor" to be handed out at the guest book table. The idea is just to give them something to do while we are at the table....I think the hour and half for dinner is just a long time to expect them to be still. Ages 6-12. Nothing that flys, chimes, rings or buzzes. Make separate girl/boy bags? or have ideas for generic items?

My friend is getting married in August and is determined to have a tacky topper so I talked her into having a grooms cake so he can have it w/o ruining her dream cake... when do you think she should serve it? Some sites I saw said maybe the rehearsal dinner but as of now she isnt planning on having one. It wont be anything crazy, just the tacky topper.

One of my best friends is getting married but have so many problems. She wants to do it in the Catholic church (he's Catholic, she's too but haven't been to the Church in years) but a lot of stuff happened in the past.

She was married before in a quickie ceremony and was forced to have an abortion a couple of weeks after the wedding (she was pregnant and felt obligated to marry the guy). After the abortion, she left him and got a divorce. Then she met her current fiancee and she's never been this happier.

She's already free to get married but with the recent death of her ex-husband, will she be allowed to get married in the Church? Like I said, she was baptized but never had communion or conformation (her parents converted to become Methodists but she never converted). Since I'm not a Catholic, it's hard to help her, so I'm asking everyone for their help.

I'm throwing a bridal shower for both the bride & groom. Does anyone have any fun ideas or games?

this guy at my church is always around. We've bumped into each other 3 times at least at the door. And one time I went to a wedding with a "How to get married book" in my hand, and he was there as a cantor for the wedding! And then I was with my mom and she was driving and dropped me off, and he was in a Uhaul van! I also saw him in a restaurant on Christmas Eve and honest to God, I looked at him and he looked at me, and it was like a physical attraction or pull.

But I am stubborn and say this is all baloney that I am infatuated.
Your thoughts. And by the way can't stand him.

So my soon to be mother-in-law and sister-in-law offered to host my bridal shower. When my mom got wind of this her feeling were totally hurt because she wanted to host my shower, however, she really isn't in the financial position to do so. I told her that I am going to have my MIL and SIL host the shower and that my mom can have a brunch the day after the shower (thought that would be a lot less expensive). Am I being insensitive?

This is what I just received in the mail from a wedding in which I was in the Bridal Party. For reference, my gift was a set of 6 gold-rimmed expresso cups and saucers, a deluxe coffee grinder and expresso beans.

"Thank you for attending our wedding. Thank you for choosing such a unique gift of the expresso set of coffee beans, grinder and serving set. ******* and I do not drink any type of coffee due to my headaches and other medical problems. So, if possible you can send a gift receipt we both would be appreciative. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness."

This is copied verbatum. With said information, I am not quite sure how to react. I am leaning towards the idea that Ms. Manners or Emily Post or whoever would not approve of this thank you note.

Regardless, the bride(zilla) previously drank coffee, and I do think that even if she doesn't now it is a beautiful serving piece/set for company. At the least, I don't find it polite to write what she did!

Please advise.

For some background, I'm getting married at 3pm in a chruch, and starting the evening around 4:30pm with cocktails at the resort where the reception will be held. Do I need to serve food at the cocktail hour? We are having a big sit down dinner at 6:30 or so, and I'm sure people will eat lunch before coming to the wedding at 3pm. We are also having the late snack around 11:30pm or so. Another question, we plan on putting two bottles of wine on each table, then whatever else they want, there is a cash bar. Is it necessary to have a champagne toast? I can't bring my own, the resort does not allow outside food/drinks in. They provide champagne at a cost of $60 a bottle, and I'll need quite a few bottles obviously for everyone to have 1 glass. Is it really a necessity? People can just toast wtih their wine, no?

Where can I find some reasonably priced bridesmaid dresses? I am on a tight budget and would rather spend more money on my wedding gown and photographer than a bridesmaid dress which will probably only be worn once by my bridesmaids. I have 4 bridesmaids and I prefer they all have the same dress.

I'm not sure the answer, is this normal? I'm not excited about my wedding, or planning it.. I don't get what all the fuss is about.. I just want it to be over with. I hate picking out little things like pew bows and isle runners, I have a friend getting married a week after me.. and she is SO excited about it, she's really starting to annoy me.. asking me so many questions regarding details ect.. I havnt even gotten my dress yet.. Is this common? to just want a simple wedding, and a nice party? share some experiences.. Thanks.

I'm planning on getting a pearl necklace and other pearl jewelery for my wedding. I'm looking online at headbands/tiara's to wear and there's too many nice ones to choose from! I'm just wondering what people's opinions are since I'm going to be wearing pearls. Should my headband also have pearls? Or would it look alright to wear a nice silver headband with some light blue jewels in it? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I have two questions:

1. What is the difference between a public and confidential marriage license? I'm a California resident. The only benefit I see is that people cannot get information about you w/out a court order. Other than that I don't see the point.......anyone??

2. When getting married and your name changes how do you handle this on the passport? If you are planning to travel out of the country should you keep your current last name until after you get back then change it? If you apply for your marriage license, they are only good for 90 days and that doesn't leave much time for the passport to be renewed.

Help!

I have seen this term used on the knot and other website and I was wondering what it was....
It doesn't seem to refer to not having "conflicts" due to money or that type of conflict or problems... but it seems to refer to the Kind of Diamond....
