My friend is getting married in August and is determined to have a tacky topper so I talked her into having a grooms cake so he can have it w/o ruining her dream cake... when do you think she should serve it? Some sites I saw said maybe the rehearsal dinner but as of now she isnt planning on having one. It wont be anything crazy, just the tacky topper.

A grooms cake is not to shove in the brides face.. they usually do that with the normal cake if theyre going to. Dont be rude.

Since she isn't planning on having a rehearsal dinner, then I suggest after they cut the wedding cake, they cut the grooms cake. Then whoever is serving the cake can cut both and serve them to the guests.

The concept of the Grooms cake is an old wives tale… so if you want to follow the tradition of the tale you wait till the end of the reception… all the single girls take a piece of the grooms cake home and put it under their pillow and the man they dream of that night will be their future groom. You could have little bags made up ahead of time…. Explain the wives tale at the reception and put a slip of paper with it so the girls have a keep sake and remember what to do.

we are cutting the grroms cake toward the end of the evening so guests can have the option to take it home in their cake boxes (that we provide). the wedding cake will be cut earlier at the reception than normal to allow guests a chance to taste and enjoy it and then later the option of taking grooms cake home later.

I would just bring it out at the wedding reception...let them cut her dream cake and then bring it out and let everyone have a little of both. Everyone wins that way and then there are no hurt feelings.

What on earth is a Grooms cake needed for ???? To shove in his Brides face???? That's just rude and immature, she has gone to a lot of trouble to look her best so why must there be some ridiculous gesture such as this to ruin the day??!!!
