Me and my fiance are getting married at the courthouse. We were wondering if it's possible to receive wedding gifts. I realize we should send cards out to family, friends, relatives etc to announce our marriage has occured but is it possible to in that note express we would like to receive gifts or not? I don't know what to do and of course wedding gifts would be lovely since we don't have much at our apartment.

Or would it sort of be emasculating him. I would like to buy him a ring and get down on my knees and ask, of course I wouldn't forget the roses and candelight. Would a man like this if he really loved someone?

the theme is "a night of black and white." i saw some really cute tuxedo and white favor boxes, but im sticking to a regular small black box with white ribbon around. but what to put inside...? the average age for the party are 18-21 yr olds.

An old colleague and travel bud has invited me to her wedding. I lived abroad for years, and have been home for six months. Since I got back she has turned down my (email) requests to catch up, even though we live in the same city. I will know no one at her wedding, and the invitation was for me only, no extra guest. Should I attend her big day? Or send my apologies with a present?

I need opinions on what guests would like better. I was given a million choices, one of which is: Do I want a first course followed by a salad or a first course/salad combo (thereby eliminating a course). I have narrowed it down to these two. The first is: A sculptured melon and strawberries served in a martini glass with frosted grapes and mint. The second is:Crab cake w/ Bibb lettuce, enduve, arugula served w/ a roasted tomato, caper and lemon emulsion (whatever that is!). Which would YOU rather eat? Is it even worth getting off the dance floor for fruit? Opinions welcomed.

I used to love www.ultimatewedding.com. I was a member there for years! I posted there almost every day! But they closed down their message boards about a week after I got married. There were so many wonderful ladies I really enjoyed talking to on there.

Are there any old members here?

Is there anywhere else to go for a good wedding message forum? I know there is www.theknot.com but I just cant seem to get into that one.

My sister is getting married in a few months and it is my responsibility to plan the shower. I got excited and had a few ideas (my parents house, renting out the clubhouse at my condo...catering and designing to fit some particular theme). My sister seems to be set on the idea of going out somewhere (that's a lot of people to buy lunch for!) Should a bridal shower really be "all out"? Does a bride have a right to be picky about the party that is being thrown for her solely to inherit gifts? Would love to hear your opinions!

Which would you do ? We are not religious but still spiritual in a sense. We are having a non-traditional wedding. ( Containing a handfastening/knot ceremony.) We want this to be a day to remember not just for us but everyone there. Would adding the sand ceremony be too much in an already offbeat ceremony?

Do I get on my knees to put it on her finger and tell her what I promise with her? If I surprise her with a ring does she have to get me one?

I'm not looking for cost analysis here. Which do you think provides a better overall event ? We went to a Wedding that had an excellent DJ last spring, and we both had a ball, and agreed that the music made it one of the best weddings we had ever been to.

I recently attended a bridal show and saw lots of gowns with color, either with colorful sashes or embroidery. However, I'm looking for a wedding dress that's a different color from white or ivory altogether.

I love the idea of pale gold or a deep red, but I don't want it to look like a prom dress (most prom dresses are a bit too frou-frou for me).

I've found a few, but I need something around $700 (give or take $75) and available in plus size. Does anyone know if there's a company that sells something like this?

I'm trying to avoid going to every wedding boutique in town, so I'm shooting for seeing the dress online, going to the dress shop, and just ordering it.

I am getting married this year and I have a HUGE family. I need to cut children out of my invites. I have teenage cousins living with their parents. When I send an invitation to my Aunts and Uncles how can I say your kids can't come? I know I have a few aunts that will assume it will be alright. The person it is addressed to will have a guest check off. Please help me say this in a nice way . In the invitation I say it?

Our theme is black and white. Half of our tables will have black tablecloths with white settings, and half of them will have white tablecloths with black settings. I can't seem to find any creative ideas for centerpieces. I saw tall trumpet vases with feathers which were beautiful, however I can't find the feathers that go in them. Any ideas for black and white centerpieces?

I am sending out wedding invites in a couple of months, but I want to ensure that when people RSVP with a guest that they put thier name and also thier guests NAME on the rsvp so that we can do place cards and also know the names of the people who are coming (out of politeness).
Also, a friend of mine suggested doing this as well bc a lot of people RSVP themselves plus guest, even when they have no clue who thier date will be, and then when they don't find a date in time, you are stuck paying for a person who never even came. This way people have to KNOW who they are bringing when they RSVP with a guest.

If you were a bridesmaid, which would you prefer: A reasonably-priced one-piece dress, or slightly more expensive skirt and top seperates?

my question is that does anyone think it's wrong to ask my fiance father to walk me down the aisle on my wedding day. my father made a desicion not to have anything to do with me and the plan was that he walk me down the aisle , but he has chosen otherwise . So i was thinking of having my future father in law walk me down the aisle and give me away.

My live in boyfriend received a wedding invitation from one of his closest friends addressed to "Bob Smith and GUEST". I believe that this was completely inappropriate and should have been addressed to Bob Smith and Mary Johnson!!

These "friends" are very well aware that we live together and also aware that I already feel that they have no social skills - especially the one and only time I went out with this couple they smoked cigarettes in the car without even asking me if I minded (I am an ex-smoker and now have severe asthma and breathing problems).

I dont want to go and kind of want to tell my boyfriend to go with GUEST>>>>>
