If you were a bridesmaid, which would you prefer: A reasonably-priced one-piece dress, or slightly more expensive skirt and top seperates?

I have asked my bridesmaids, and the majority opinion is that they don't care either way, as long as it's something they can wear again.
Either option will be black with platinum accessories, and it will be from David's Bridal.

Well, I would wear whatever the bride wanted me to wear. But if I had a choice, I would probably choose the two piece, since I'm 2 sizes bigger on top than the bottom, and some places let you get 2 different sizes. Also, if it's two pieces, you might be able to pull off the top with jeans for evening, or the bottom with a few different shirts. In all reality though, most bridesmaids probably will not wear either one again, so it wouldn't make too much of a difference.

Since david's bridal has such a variety n each color why don't you just tell them to buy whatever style they prefer in black? Two pieces might look better on some while some can pull off a one piece. It'll add a little variety and style to your wedding anyways. If that doesn't work go w/as many as you can to david's bridal and have a fitting. Seeing the stuff in person makes a HUGE difference I found out when I had my fitting. Nothing was I expected. If price isn't an issue go for the 2 pieces, that'll be like $160ish. They're expensive.

I personally think that a two piece outfit suits most body shapes better than a dress. I'm short and curvy and a dress doesn't flatter me at all.
If your bridesmaids are paying for their own, and their funds are tight, stick to the dress then - or whichever they prefer.
If you're paying for them, I think you should consider the bridesmaid's body types first before choosing. If they're all thin - go with the dress. On a thin body, a dress is a more formal and streamlined design.
Good luck!!

What i did for my recent wedding is that I used both options. I put the bridesmaids in the one piece dress and the maid of honor wore the two piece outfit. It worked out very well.

You are the bride so you can have whichever you prefer. However, since you're asking our opinions, why don't you just ask the bridesmaids themselves? Take them all out together and show them the two choices, and let them give their opinions. Either are good, I wore a one piece dress when I was a maid-of-honor, and my maid-of-honor at my wedding wore a one piece dress. My step-daughter had 2-piece skirt and top separates for her attendants and they were beautiful. Good luck on your wedding!

As a larger chick, I despise the two-piece option, but I'll admit that some of them are quite attractive. Why not look at some of each and ask your bridesmaids' opinions if you find you're open to both options.

In all the weddings i have been in i have had only one one piece and i didnt like it I love the two piece but either or sometimes doesn't matter to some people. As long as the bride likes it you should be happy. Good Luck

Neither. Do what my wife and I did; tell the bridesmaids the specific color(s) they need to wear, then let them pick out their own outfit.
In our case, it was chocolate brown. Almost everyone had a dress of that color already, and the rest really appreciated being able to choose something that would match in color, but be more flattering (and more useful in the future) than a preset type of dress would have been.
Feel free to impose restrictions, like "must have sleeves" or "must have a skirt and be below the knee/above the ankle", but don't go overboard. Trust me; everyone will be looking at you no matter what.

I like the 2 piece dresses better, but most people prefer cheaper dresses since they probably only be wearing them once so I guess the one piece would be better.

Get their opinion. Go on their website and pick out one or two of each kind and let the girls decide from there. Majority rules. They have to wear/buy it. I just picked the color and let them decide on the dress. I didn't have to wear it.
